Any player who has both an active World of Warcraft subscription and World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade is eligible to opt in to the beta at. The account must be active when the beta starts in order to be eligible to receive an invitation.

I know that 99% of you have already opted in for the wow-beta, but I also know another way to get in. It works almost like having a second WoW account.

1. Opt-in at the WoW site on your regular WoW account for chance #1.
2. Create a BLIZZARD account (this is NOT a WoW account ) by going to

3. Sign up by using a SEPARATE e-mail, contact information, etc.
4. There will be an option on near the bottom along the process of making an account that will say "beta opt in." Make sure you check that box.
5. You have now DOUBLED your chances of receiving the WoW beta key when the phase opens!

That's not how statistics and randomization work, though.

Random is random.

Your odds don't go up with TWENTY accounts.

Now, if there are a set number of slots and it's random, your odds of NOT getting in go down with each account. But your odds of getting in never go up.

Also... Is this random?

I wouldn't select people AT RANDOM if I were Blizzard.

I would select people who login at least once a day on average and try to get a broad selection of player types, ranging from the unguilded to people who have downed Illidan. Given the way the new achievement system works, I'd go for SOME explorers, small pet collectors, some arena PvPers, some BG PvPers. I'd want a few people with a record of mild exploitation. I'd probably exclude people who have never been on the PTR or submitted a GM ticket.

I'd want a balance of classes/professions being tested.

I doubt they'd get much done on a beta server with 400 Night Elf Hunters, 400 Blood Elf Paladins and 400 Gnome Death Knights who are all Kara farmers.

In fact, if I were running the test, I'd want to make sure some raiders from big guilds were included... and I'd also want to include 70s who have never set foot in Kara but are still active. You need people to test raid content but you also want to know if people who don't raid will start raiding in the expansion with the 10/25 man model for all raids.
