If it never worked for you than you might not have kicked the GM quick enough.
If it worked but doesn't work anymore thats because a GM saw you and disabled it.

Lol you have to use a profession that the GM will want to restore and will think it will be worth 1/3 of your restores. If the GM thinks you haven't put any time into that profession, then he probably think you're wasting his and your time.

There is 1 possibility of this actually working -

In order to restore things like professions, a Senior GM has to copy your character to their account. They flag you as a GM and then use the commands to restore what was lost, then they copy you back to your account (if you don't believe me, think about it for 2 seconds; they don't have your password. They can't just log your character in).

At any rate, I've seen Seniors mess this up before (its usually someone being trained to be a Senior that still does this). Before they copy you back, they're supposed to remove all of the flags (before they log you out, they have to uncheck all of the flags in game, like invis and so on). Sometimes, however, they do forget, and copy you back still flagged. Sometimes they don't even realize they did it until they get a petition from someone on your realm saying you are impersonating a GM.

FYI - You won't be able to use any GM commands if you do get this to work. Your account has to be flagged for the server to allow you to run them, not just the character being temporarily given GM powers (this goes back to what I just said, about the Senior having to copy your character to their account).

-In the time the GM asked me to log off for a full 15 minutes, I logged onto my friends account and saw that my character was shown online.

It turned out that people ended up asking Gm's about it on the customer service forums, and we were specifically told that it was just a server display bug from when the GM had logged into your account.

No commands work, you just get to play with a GM tag for a bit in chat.

Mine was that my younger brother was on my account and accidentally deleted it.

DO NOT use that excuse, it will get you in more trouble than if you said "i deleted my proffession so i cud get Lolololol" The reason not to use that excuse is because it is account sharing and they will ban for it. Yes it sucks, but it is in the ToS that you clicked agree to :P

also, you are forgeting the luck aspect in this trick, in order for you to get status the gm logging on to your account must forget to disable the gm status.

I'm sure blizzard reads these forums and anyone attempting this will probablly be watched

thats what they say. but when someone does this try /console whois and if it works it works.

Like I said, no commands ever worked.
The biggest thing I saw, other than having a GM tag, was supposedly you could talk cross faction. But that was never confirmed.
