This does indeed work, as you can either have an existing account create the character or make one yourself.

Hello there!
So basicly, let's say your name is Ángle.Find someone with similiar name, let's say Angle.
Deal with the player with nick Angle and tell him to open a ticket with text like this:
"Hello, there is player, which has name Ángle and he is rude at other players and acting childish etc. And say that you don't want to play, because everyone thinks it's me, who is so dumb and that is really embarrassing."
Then the GM say that he will try to do something with it, and then you have the FREE rename.
I've done this several times with scammed accounts and this DOES work if you find the right person.
BTW. Check armory of the player if he still plays...

I'm not sure about this one, do you think Blizzard logs every letter, or even spam in database? That's almost 11 millions of people spamming this chat, which is probably not possible.

Instead of wasting hours to find someone with a similar name, you can create a trial account with a similar name. Spend like 20 minutes on the trial account getting bad reputation in Stormwind. Then go on your main, open a ticket, and do what the OP said to do.
