    WoW crash while open profession

    Hey there,

    i modify the Spell.dbc (convert it with DBCutill to CSV) and create a new line at the bottom of the file. The new line is a copy from this Hardened Iron Shortsword - Spell - World of Warcraft Spell. I change the ID, the name, the create item and the required items:

    I change the Spell.dbc in the Trinity Core and i create a patch for my World of Warcraft client. Login is okay and i can learn the spell but if i want to open the profession window i get the wow crash.

    Spell Id's cannot go higher than 66000 (or something around 60k) to be handled properly.

    You need to add the spell.dbc change to both the server and the client.

    Okay... that means that i cannot create new spells which has a higher id as 60000? Thats bad.

    Nothing higher than 65535 (0xFFFF) if you want players to use it. If only creatures use it, you can have any spell ID.

    Is there no way how i can fix it that i can use higher ids for player spells?

    No. This is the size of the data store used for saving action bar data among other things. You will encounter many issues using higher spell ID's than 65535 for players.

    This shouldn't be a problem though - there is enough free entries to allow you to have 500-1000 custom spells.

    o_0 That's a big task. You will have to think of a different way to do it. You could attach these custom spells to items as on use. Or use gossip menu's. Etc.

    Or probably the best solution would be to write a new interface purely client side, and when you select what you want the client tells the server the display ID chosen.

    My goal is that a player can craft every item (weapon and clothes) which exist. For example:

    Blacksmith = Can create every item which is weapon or plate
    Leather workers = Can create every item which is leather or heavy armor
    etc.
