[ArcEmu] Upgrade item?

Hey, guys I have been pondering this one for a bit, I would like to know based on concept how you could make an item like the Eternion's "Upgrade Gems" based solely on LuaBridge, i myself know how to code in LuaBridge so i got that part covered what i need help on is the concept itself. Like from what you can see on Eternion does it seem like it queries a DB to get "Which item is this" and "What will it become". I just want some input on this one thanks guys.

You want that there's a table in the database which includes the base item and the next rank item?
A good structure for that table would be

CREATE TABLE `item_upgrades` (
`item_base` INT(10) NULL COMMENT 'Item which should be upgraded',
`item_upgrade` INT(10) NULL COMMENT 'The item youll get instead of',
PRIMARY KEY (`item_base`)
)

Then you just have to make an if check, based on lua or c++, like

if(Query != 0)
{
Player->removeitem(Query->firstvalue);
Player->Additem(Query->secondvalue);
}

It's just an example don't try to use that code
