Re-compile help

I currently have a 3.0.9 ArcEmu repack that was level 80 and raised the level cap. But now I need to re-compile to raise the max skills. Before the repack I was trying to do a fresh compile of my own which I have done before and it worked perfectly but now for some reason the WhyDB keeps messing up or something because MySql refuses to connect to the character database so I keep getting disconnected upon trying to create a new character. This is the reason I'm using the repack, but I as wondering will I have the same Issue trying to re-compile the repack? Is there anything I need to do to make sure my DB stays the same? I just don't want to lose what I have already when It took me 3 days of trying to do a fresh compile before I finally decided to use this repack.

Use the SQL updates in trunk/sql/character_updates and trunk/sql/world_updates. Make a backup of your DB before you execute the updates. Then Execute the updates and it should work if you have been using a Arcemu repack.
