If anyone is interested in a vanilla server you should try this WAD - WoW Server Emulation

It has some old files used to create a Vanilla server 1.2.1/1.2.2

Still looking for old map & dbc extracter. I will update my post when I got all the needed tools.

You should just join AbsoluteVirtue.. Definitely the best Pre-TBC server out there.
Although, I do believe they use version 2.4.3.

I would really enjoy to compile a vanilla server , and try out the good old wow again with some friends. Maybe make it public and scratch together some people.

I hope some people will reply this topic, and post some useful things.

    Hi

Yes pre-TBC gameplay is much wanted by many people who feel nostalgic about
the gameplay that doesnt seem to excist any more It became mindless powerplay
in the most rediculous meaning, no offence to the ones who like it

If you search, and know where to search you can find some pre-TBC servers,
most are fun, instant 60 or have many custom content. Atm I run a pre-TBC
server, on mangos which I started end last year. And we were overwhelmed by
the positive responses of people who longed for such gameplay

As we want to provide the game as Blizzlike as it was we choose to run Mangos
on patch 2.4.3 with an UDB db, and our devs are bringing the core and db into
preTBC state as much as possible

Reason why you in my opinion should do the same is:

In our opinion Mangos and its databases still provides the best and most Blizzlike
gameplay. Most likely some peope will disagree, but I think you should try for
yourself and make up your mind about that then

1.12 emulators indeed have the base of classic gameplay, HOWEVER, they are
known for their many bugs, non working spells, talents, instablity, not to mention
memory leaks. In other words, you would make a nice pre TBC environment, but
absolutely not playable. Especially when youconsider the new generation
emulators, like Mangos, who can provide an almost bugfree game experience.

Ofcourse you are free to make your own choices, but I think you should at least consider this before starting

if you want more info about pre TBC servers or Mangos feel free to contact me by PM

The problem is, if you use a pre-bc wow emulator it still has a lot of bugs in the original content. If you use a BC+ emulator, lots of those bugs are fixed..BUT, if you simply disable outlands and northrend you still have the new spells, talents, UI changes, items, etc etc.

It would be great as a secondary server as opposed to a standalone..but it's a huge undertaking.
