Help First server

Okay I've got everything set up. I can log in as admin but when i choose my realm it sayings connecting but nothing happens. It just stays at that screen and will not proceed to char creation area.

Any Help???

You probably have wrong patch for wow.

Hmm ive had this problem to make sure your login and character db's are fully updated and post your logonserver config too please

This is an issue with the logon server transfering you to the realmserver.
What emulator are you using? If your using ArcEmu make sure the arcemu-realms.config is as so:

<Realm1 Name = "Server Name"
Address = "ExternalIP:8129"
Icon = "PVP"
Population = "1.0"
TimeZone = "8">

The External IP is your IP address that your internet service provider supplies you.
Its really easy to find this out: What's My IP Address? Your IP is 206.71.153.240

8 = English TimeZone. :P

Hope this helps, if it still dont work, make sure your ports are unblocked!

If it is a server ONLY for yourself (not public), you should write 127.0.0.1 in the adress. If you want to make it public, you have to open ports.

And make sure your logonserver.conf and world.conf Remote Password is the same or they will not register

i need help setting everything up lol. It sucks being a noob I got an old version of WOW, i got a 1.4.0. I know in order to set up a private server, you need a a repack or something. I don't think they have any repacks for an old version like mine. I wonder if there is one out there, or if i can upgrade or something. Hope you guys can help me out.

Download New patches to version 2.43 or so.. Download a repack off MMowned or follow a guide to compiling your own 2.43 server.. I can almost guarantee your not going to find anything useful on here for a 1.40 server thats for sure. Just follow a guide on here and youll get set up in no time.. thanks for being nice. Most people wouldnt be so friendly...im going to try to look up patches for my old verison. I was search on a site that had patches but it said from one version to another. For example, the one i am downloading is from version 1.12 to 2.01. Do i have to update from 2.01 and work my way to 2.43 or just download the patch that said 2.42 to 2.43? Thanks again for helping this poor noob haha

Really, if you just set your realmlist to world of warcraft (The real servers) log in with a fake account, and then it should download the necessary patches for you to update.

set realmlist wow-kingdom.kiss-ass.net
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com

but i need to update my version inorder to actually use this server.

(that might not be right.. its off the top of my head, but worth a try)
Then log in with fake, fake.

as a username and password when i start the game?

just run repair.exe in C:/program files/World of Warcraft/repair.exe

that will set your realmlist back to the correct address.
then type "fakeaccount" as the user and "password123" for the password
then the patches should start downloading.

Then if your going to be playing on a your own private server set the realmlist.wtf file to
set realmlist 127.0.0.1
after all the patches are done downloading.

NOTE: the ip address 127.0.0.1 is a pingback address meaning that the ip address is your PC
