Ok, i have the same problem as the above, I have made a shortcut of the "wowclient", and I have put in the " -uptodate"(note that I have added a SPACE in there) and still have the problem. Any idea why?

Note: there are no " in the wowclient shortcut

Yeah, it definently isn't a spacing problem. In fact, you can't even run it without a space, you get an error (I do at least). Maybe it's related to a certain OS?

I'm using Vista (although, running all the alpha stuff via XP service pack 2)

I don't think it's an OS problem, I'm running XP(don't have vista)

nvm, I figured it out it's euro no wonder it won't work for US. OP please make sure you say only works on euro comps.

Read thread before asking dump questions. Bloodkip reuploaded it all, on filefront. Those links work

I've downloaded Bloodkip's link, but whatever I do, -uptodate and stuffs, it still does that error 'Needs to be open via launcher'. Anyone know how to fix it?

Yep... I'm beginning to think Blood's links may have been wrong. Only thing I can think of since everyone is having the exact same problem.

Problem's Solution is:

create in wow folder a file called

wow.ses

in the first line you put a username in the second the password :O

now it opens wow

Edit : ok i figured most of it out sry for asking a question. The problem with the wowclient.exe shortcut not working is the wow.ses.txt file. You need to rename it "wow.ses" , the file is being recognized as a text and not the file its supposed to be, hope this helps someone

Alright, I'm confused. I renamed the wow.ses to just "wow.ses" nothing else. It's suppose to be a text document, right?

please pardon my post, but im an idiot in need of help. I have downloaded the 6 files from the earlier post, and I have them all in one folder. However, I have no idea where the wowclient.exe is. i don't have any version of WoW installed on my computer at the moment, if this part of the problem could you tell me how much i need to install? if this isn't the problem, where the hick is the wowclient for the alpha thing.

I have an issue I havent seen anyone else post yet..
When I log in past the character selection screen, to where the actual game loads, I get this error.

ERROR #0 (0x85100000)
