    I'm having trouble with this... no matter what I do, even with " -uptodate" added to the shortcut path, it still just gives the error, "This program must be opened by the updater" when I open the shortcut. Any idea what's going on here?

    I'm running Windows 2000 if it makes any difference.

    I have always wanted to try out the old alpha WoW, and now I can! At least explore the world, though.. :P And.. Dark Portal at Scholomance?! :O

    Really imba, been looking for this for ages. Finally being able to see how stuff used to be.

    Btw: if anyone finds some really cool stuff or locations (I know for example undermine should still be in this alpha version, only need to find out how to get there, should be instance ID 2, if you can worldport there or tele there it would be so sweet) please post.

    As I understand the worldport command (in the console) in the alpha, you have to be on the same map ID as you are on to port. Example: You can't use worldport 0 567.884 -543.14 502 (0 is eastern kingdoms) if you are on 1 (kalimdor). Only way to get between the continents is by changing the starting location in the emulator program (only a few places Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms available). Sad to say, but don't think its possible If you are good at map/modeling you could try to convert undermine maps to current version (if that is possible), or find a way to add more starting locations to the emulator program.

    PS: One of the places in alpha I got a good laugh was at the north part of the island east of booty bay (the island with the big gorilla)

    You actually can get to any continent, but it's pretty difficult.

    The server has an option to spawn characters at their last known location; use that. Then search through the Abyss server's folder for the file "f7f000001.dat"; that is where it saves character positions.

    Open up that file with a text editor. If you have only one character saved on the server, the mapID should be the last number. Example for map 17:

    Some IDs I remember:
    • 37 - Plains of Snow (Very tiny ice-themed battleground)
    • 29 - Kalidar (different from Kalimdor!)
    • 48 - Monastery (Scarlet Monastery, but all instance wings connected)


    You'll probably have to port around a lot to find the land on those, but 0,0,0 is always a good place to start. Note that I checked the Undermine map and found no land or buildings, although I might have just not searched hard enough.

    i was looking around for something like that for a long time.

    here is what i could find out so far:

    29 - Test Box
    33 - Shadowfang
    34 - Stromwind Stockade
    35 - Stormwind Vault
    36 - Deadmines
    37 - Plains of Snow
    42 - Test Box
    43 - Wailing Caverns
    44 - Monastery
    48 - empty
    70 - empty
    90 - empty
    109 - emtpy
    129 - Rozorfen Downs

    i dont think that the "empty" ones are really empty, but i couldn´t find anything, so if you see something in there please tell me the coordinates.

    i tested up to world number 300 but no more instances. I hope there are some more, please tell me if you find something else

    Nice it works, would rep if I could. I found a whole bunch of Alpha teleport coords a mad long time ago when I had my first private server. I've been looking for that site for a bit now, I'll post it if i can find it.
