do the no-ip thing and it will work for sure, restart your pc and it will work. I did that and now it's working for 14 hours straight with no crashes.

Hmm.. I found some guides on non-hamachi public now, but my problem now is that when i get in, (non-public) on the third step of your tutorial, in the realm list it shows that my mangos server is offline? why is that? :S

I guess I can write a mini-guide on how I setup my server for friends to play...

    1) You need to download a SQL client, I use SQLyog (because it is free): webyog. com/en/

    2) You need to figure out what your external IP is: findmyip. com/

    3) If you have a router you need to open up these two ports (3724 and 8085). This also applies to a personal fire wall. I only have experience with Linksys routers, so if you need some help just go to portforward. com/ and select what you need.

    4) Now, you need to change the MANGOS database so that your friends can connect to your server. Open up SQLyog and log into the dataebase using "127.0.0.1" as the host address, the username and password are both "root". Note: Make sure your server is running, but WoW is not, before you try logging into the database.

    5) Now, in the left column of the main window there's a list of stuff, the third from the bottom is "realmd", click the plus sign to open the sub-menu, in that menu there's a folder titled "Tables", click that plus sign and at the bottom is "realmlist", select that (don't bother opening it).

    6) Now, in the bottom right box there's a menu across the top (result, messages, table data, etc). Click "Table Data".

    7) A table should appear with two rows and a number of columns, you need to change the address column to the external address we found in step 2. Note: You can change the name of your server in this table too, just change the "name" field to whatever you want your server to be called.

And that's it! Tell your friends to change their realm list in the WoW folder to: set realmlist <whatever your external IP was> and delete the patch list line. If you have any questions I suppose you could post them here, but I don't want to overtake 711's thread. His repack made it an absolute breeze to start up my own private server, without it I probably wouldn't have even bothered making one.

Note: Make sure you remove the space before every .com, I had to trick the site because this is only my second post.

To 711: If you feel that this mini-guide in any way imposes upon your own guide and you'd like me to remove it, please do not hesitate to let me know. Also, feel free to copy it into your guide and I'll edit mine out.

Hmmm... As i also am on a linksys router, but I am having some problems making my server 'live' in non-hamachi, could you please add [email protected] ? Everything seems ok, until my friends try to connect they get stuck on 'connecting' and in a min it says 'unable to connect'...
    Please help!

Hm, I had a similar problem, as you can see in my initial post, before I figured it out and fixed it.

Since I'm sure many people have linksys routers, I suppose I could write a small guide...

    1) Open your start menu, select run.

    2) In the window, type "cmd" and hit okay.

    3) In the command prompt window, type "ipconfig" and hit enter. You won't need any of this information just yet.

    4) Now you need to forward the ports, this process varies between router models, but it is all basically the same. Type 192.168.1.1 (or whatever your default gateway is, if it is different), if it asks for a password, it is "admin" by default, and the user is left blank. Find a tab at the top labeled "Forwarding" or something similar.

    5) If you want, name it something (I leave the first field blank, it isn't required). Now, you need to open the first port (3724), put that number in both the first and second box, since it is not a range. Select both TCP and UDP protocol. Now, open the command prompt window and change the next box to the last set of numbers in your IP address. Check the "enable" box. Now, repeat this step, but forward the port 8085.

    6) Make sure you save everything, then close the router. Now, just follow my guide above and you should be good!

As far as i know, Display ID = Creature ID, so far i didnt have any problems (or just had luck?).

Anyway, to find the creature ID > wowhead.com is your friend (or any other similar database)
[example] Illidan url on wowhead.com is:
Illidan Stormrage - NPC - World of Warcraft

    ...so his ID is: 22917

This also works with items, spells and so on.
