Not sure if this is the place to ask... But here goes.

I'm a new WoW machinima filmmaker and needed to get the resolution and detail that WoWmapviewer just doesn't have. I was planning on creating a private server for myself so that I could just fly around and flim/screenshot some scene locations.

I noticed that patch 2.4 doesn't seem to be working with creating private servers? As for creating a server to play off, I found a tutorial on youtube that seems like it could work, but haven't tested it. Not quite sure where to go from here, can anyone help?

Well, there are some 2.4 cores but they are very bugged, don't know how much it will affect machinima though. If you really need 2.4 try getting one and trying

acces denied error or something... did you check if the remote_password in both config files is the same (logon and world) ?

0xc01550002 is a pointer to a location in the memory. Without more info it's hard to determine the cause of this.

As in 'bugged' what exactly do you mean? Are terrains alright in terms of structure? I just need empty places/instances really, nothing else involved. So IF I could get a 2.4 one working for what I need, it would be cool.

Maybe it's possible to get a 2.3 server if my current WoW is running on the 2.4 patch?

Varies. Depends on if you get the ptr core or a patched ptr core :P
You'll need to downgrade to 2.3 if you want to login to a 2.3 server. 2.4 client can't connect :/

i am attempting to make a boss, and can export the model alright, but i havent the foggiest how to make the boss appear into my mpq in order to use as a model for a boss, anyone have any tips/pointers?

Will +rep if help leads me to my boss ^^

You haven't told me, do you really need the new content? If so, get a modded PTR core and use it. There are bugs but I don't think they'll affect Machinima. If you don't need the new content, just use a stable rev of Ascent

I'm not very knowledgable when it comes to this stuff, and I do still play the official servers, so I think I'd want to skip downgrading to get a 2.3 server up. As long as I can get this server up with as little hassle as possible I'll be happy, so I think I'll go for the PTR... I thank you so much for all the help you've given me If I get stuck, do you mind if I ask you for abit of help again?
