Buying my VPS Server, Sick of running my server on my PC

Can one do compiling on a VPS? I heard someone say that compiling might be too much for a cheap virtual and a dedicated would be needed. Any input is appreciated.

It can still be done but its best to not have the compiler running at the same time of your server. Or you can just compile in your home computer and upload the files to the VPS.

Before reading any of this, I had already ordered the package. The services is awesome, there is however a huge problem with porting your sql files over. Its not as easy as just dumping them or copying them over. Has anyone actually completed this task, I get all the way to the creation page, then get a login failed, or disconnect if I try to create.
