    Heres what they should do.

Have different sections, like Repacks, Lua, C++, and Other
    It would be more organized.

    Oh sweet jesus

MMOwned is now going to crush itself into the ground.

I understand the teleporters, but they should be allowed if there unique in there own way.

    Cancelling out repacks?

God, this is what got MMOwned users to there skill level today, you all started from nothing, and learned from repacks.

    LUA boss fights?

You sir, are descriminating against LUA, so C++ is still allowed? When it is completely and udderly dam stupid to code a boss fight in when there is absolutely no need to do so, and take the extra time to compile it every single time.

I think i won't be coming on MMOwned in this particular area as much anyone, i feel they are descriminating against certain things.

Perhaps its because of "Heroic-WoW" coming up, and pretty much all developers on there are GMs on that particular server.

Anyway, this particular part of the forums has died in my opinion, it was going down hill before, but it definitely will now.

I'll be over on the graphics forums as from now.

Dude.. repacks bring nothing, ppl do them so they can get easy rep. Lua scripts which are made in 5 mins using lua generator is rubbish.
+most of the repackers are total idiots who think that they are powerful and good developers when they just slap the already done work together and call it theirs.

Having a good guide on how to compile and run emulators is MUCH better than some freking 1 click up repack.

Ppl who can only run a repack offer nothing for wow emulation community. People who can do this stuff themselves do, since after you've compiled and set up everything once, you can do it always and it teaches you something, which could lead into providing fixes in future.

@ Fastelf - I learned to compile Antrix (wasn't Ascent or Arc yet) before I ever layed hands on a repack, and all of my IRL friends have done the same. You can learn from repacks, HOWEVER, most of the time it takes 4 to 5 times longer to learn off of them. You can't compile DLLs or update your own database or even extract your own DBC files.

Also, Gastric said this is subject to change. Obviously, there will be no more Blizzlike repacks (Why should there be? You can just download a compile & DB :P), but there is hope for Funserver repacks that don't just contain a poorly made mall and a few custom items/npcs. They will have to be fully custom. I.E. The repack I'm working on now I've been working on for over a month.

    1. This has nothing to do with HeroicWow
    2. There has been an influx of lua teleporters
    3. You can do so much more in C++ than you could ever do in what is supported in the current lua engine

    4. We just got the OK to put the release section in moderation, everything is allowed now, but only after a mods approval

Go ahead, we don't need any more drama queens in the emulation community.
If you don't like it don't come back.

There were way too many repacks which had no use at ALL, some were even based on other repacks. Thats just way out of hand.

LUA boss scripts are just copy of other boss scripts with some editted spells. Something anyone can do and is not even worth sharing with people.

I think you should allow repacks but from only people with a certain ranks. Like 2d made a epic repack I used for awhile, but yeah there are a lot of bad ones out there

C++ MAY have more functions then LUA, but it does not mean it is absolutely better then it.

People are creating new LUA engines which pretty much do the exact same as C++, making all custom C++ scripts useless to code in that format.

    Besides..

The point of an "Emulation Community" is to help each other out, even if the releases are just purely crap, they may help someone (Unless its a repack with just a mall, they can get deleted for all i care)

But, whoever passed this.. i guess i can't say anything to change there mind.

But, expect alot less posts/traffic to this area of the site.

May your changes some-how benefit your site.. even if i don't think they will.

Fastelf you never cease to amaze me.

1st of all, your a JOKE in saying this:
People are creating new LUA engines which pretty much do the exact same as C++, making all custom C++ scripts useless to code in that format.
I lol'd IRL. If you say that Lua will ever be better than C++ that's a plain out joke. Even if Lua has more commands C++ would still be better, which isn't even possible because the lua core relies on the C++ commands. I used to code addons and things, and am a strong advocate for Lua's use, but I still obviously think C++ wins in a landslide. And guess what the Lua engine is made in? C++. How can it be greater than it then :P

Second, notice how all the Contributers and up are all agreeing on this, even many noobs. Because they know what they are doing. This rule is temporary (about the repacks), real repacks will be allowed back in later on, pending approval. If there are better repacks, then there are less questions asked, less confusion for noobs (meaning they will learn faster) and happier people on MMOwned.

Guess what the LUA engine for arcemu/aspire/ect/ect/ect was made out of?

Is this a serious comment or a joke?

Ok I know it has been a while from my last post but i still wish to voice my opnion. I say we can do without the simple lua scripts make a general rule here is my proposed rule for the lua scripts.

    Teleporters
Make 1 sticky where users can update there own teleporter that way the teleporters remain up to date while still being keept in check. Also add these rule's that the teleporter must be made in gossip forum (no game object on click), Only item and npc teleporters, More then 25 places.

    Boss Fights
Ok i know this may sound harsh but imma say one thing that we should not limit these but more or less make a subgroup for them. Making some type of limit on them would mean to limit ones creative ablity. I mean when i started out i did not know what the limits were for lua so i went beyond that of what normal scripts where but i did everything in one function. If we must creat a rule make it this. Must have 3 steps, Must contain die, combat, leavecombat and make use of the remove events command as well as do at least 10 diffrent things inside that one script.

Now about this i think it would be nice for BOTH c+= and LUA to have there own sub forum and there own stickys so there will be less fuding of oh c++ is better or LUA is better my personal opnion if you can do it in lua get it done there less time compiling. Hope that this helps make a more clear way and to those people who say jsut add rules or just do this please explain more in detail so we know what you mean or give an example.
