You need to read my topic,
It's not about Processor, it's about RAM.

    That goes into detail.

The processor does count, as if it was slow, you would have a slow/un responsive server as it wont be able to process fast enough.

14 players? Sounds about right for the average home connection.

You didn't think you could run a real server with hundreds of users from your home, did you?

Bandwidth costs a lot of money. A lot of players on your Ascent server will use a tonne of bandwidth. Far beyond the means of the average home connection.

You want to host hundreds of users? You're gonna hafta spend some cash on a dedicated host.

no it doesnt sound right. unless you using dial up or some bs dsl. your normall none dedicated server should hold at least 5o ppl without lag. but that depends on your connection..

the best way to identify if your server is suitable , simply go to speedtest and if your UPLOAD SPEED shows lower then 1mbit , you cannot host a server without lag,

upload speed is the most important factor in runing a private server.

ofc the processor speed and core is very important but not the major factor.

i presently run 1000 mbit dedicate server awith quad core xeon and when i get 450+ ppl. sometimes it gets a bit laggy for ppl that located far from the server connection point.

Upload and Download rates are equally important for running a WoW server.

    Vista? XP?

Your CPU isnt causing the lag. Is it single core? Dual?Quad? Single core, very possibly.

4gigs ram is fine, and internet seems okay.

May just be your settings or ISP
