    [Guide] Play WoW behind proxy

    Hello ownedcore readers,

This guide is written by me - to help you play WoW on either school or work and it will also lower your ping. PingBuster has 2 types of servers, VPN servers and SSH tunneling servers. For the sake of simplicity we will use a VPN server.

Please note: when connecting to a VPN server you can play ANY game from behind a proxy.

    1. First, download and install PingBuster
    PingBuster: http://pingbuster.net/app/setup.exe

    2. Open up the application and either start your free trial or create your account.

    3. Select a VPN server with the lowest ping, if ping is disabled choose the one closest to you.

    4. Click connect, if you don't have the OpenVPN client, it will be downloaded and installed for you.

    5. Go to What Is My IP Address - Shows Your IP Address and see if your IP has been changed (after connected to a VPN server obviously), if it is, you'll be able to connect to WoW as you would normally do.

    Have fun!

This sounds really helpful and i think all of us in MMOWNED appreciate it. Just one thing, i got lost on step 5) "Click advanced and fill in your proxy information." What proxy info? The one u show in ur Step Picture or the one we make with ProxyCap?

Firstly, thanks for the tut. Just got a ban, and I'll need to start doing this. haha
There is one thing that's a little unclear though.

In Pingbuster, is our "proxy information" the same that we entered into Proxycap?

    I.E.
    IP: 127.0.0.1
    Port: 7065

Edit: If I do use the example above, it tells me "Could not connect to the server. If you are behind a proxy please configure the proxy correctly (press Advanced).) Lol
Also, both are being ran as administrator and I've manually added firewall exceptions.

Lol! Sorry, I should have refreshed the page before I submitted. Had no idea you had asked.

So if i run wow behind this, and i get banned, am i able to claim that my account was comprimised? Because technically isnt this changing the IP connecting to the account? Or am i looking at this all wrong?

That's exactly what a proxy does. It allows you to connect to WoW as a different IP than the one your ISP has provided to you.
Also, that's precisely what I plan on doing in the case that I receive another ban. I don't think it's foolproof, but it will increase chances of a ban reversal undoubtedly.

I am curious to know if this is the case as well. I will definitely be running this while botting as a safeguard if that's the case.

No. In PingBuster you only fill in your proxy you use to connect to the internet. To check this open up IE and go to your proxy settings. If you are unaware of any proxy try to leave the proxy information blank in PingBuster.

Yes. This could be used as a safeguard. But beware, when you login at 10:00 from the USA and then select server 1 (which is in europe) and login at 10:01 and do this couple of times your account can be flagged as compromised. (Because you - physically - cannot go from the USA to europe in 1 minute).

Understood. Is there a way to select where the proxy is based? Can i maybe connect from somewhere else in the same country or isnt this possible?

Well I know the server locations:
    Server 1: Netherlands
    Server 2: USA
    Server 3: Germany
    Server 4: Germany

Nonetheless you can still connect to a server which is abroad, but make sure you don't switch IP's too often.

If you don't have a proxy setup already, leave the entire advanced tab blank. Hit save, and then close pingbuster. Open it back up, and try to connect to the server of your choice. That's how I fixed my connection issues.
