Playing WoW trough a proxy (when behind a school/work firewall)

Hi, This is a guide that will teach you how to play wow when your on school, weather you wish to play during school hours, or between hours.

Programs that you need
Your Freedom
Sockscap 2.40

Step by step
1. Register on Your-freedom.net.
2. Download both programs, and install them where ever you like.
- (when setting up Your freedom, make sure you connect to a server with the least ms, and that its in the same continent as the server you play wow on.)
3. Open Your Freedom, Go to the Ports tab and look for SOCKS 4/5.
- Disable this.
- Make sure the port is set to 1080
- Enable it again.
4. Open up SocksCap, and click File, and go to Settings, and go to the tab [b] SOCKS Settings].
- Find the text SOCKS Server:, and type 127.0.0.1, and 1080 as the port
5. Now press OK, then click NEW, browser this to your wow.exe (not luncher.exe)
6. Go on Your freedom, and press Start connection.
7. Go on SocksCap, then press on WoW, then on Run!

Or Just use an ssh server:

1. Install cygwin on your windows with the ssh client
2. Have an ssh server at home or elsewhere
3. in cygwin : ssh myserver.com -D 1234
4. conf sockscap to ip 127.0.0.1 and port 1234
5. Run wow \o/

Advantage:
- Cyphered so the admin can't see what you're doing
- Often faster cause proxy are overflowed
- Pass firewall most of the time cause firewall policy often block common proxy port: 1080, 8080, ...

@imnoartard, no they cant track your IP, because they only get Your Freedom's IP, and they wont give away yours.

I think its possible to order a new server(If you pay :yuck
and, its might possible to set up your own server, with a your own ip.

I used to use HTTP-Tunnel client for proxy, paying 5$/month with a latency of around 400ms with WoW, can anyone confirm this free one to be faster( or equal)

edit: Wow, im suppriced.. when I wasnt on the proxy, I had 166 ms, but when I went on the proxy I had 70ms. o_o

I do not understand wut you are saying. I'm saying go through another website if the proxy site the OP suggested is banned, liek A84.info || Bypass Web Filters cuz its innocuous and probably wont get banned.

Also, there are proxy sites ad infinitum on the internets that are not generally banned on business/skewl servers, so if my suggested site gets banned/is too laggy for you, finding another one is easy via google (just type in "proxy sites")

Also, just a request, does anyone have a good way to exit wow rapidly? I find it lagging, then going to windows, thus leaving up the UI/WoW crap that I wouldn't want authority figures to see.

What I mean is, I click exit, but the fullscreen lingers for a few seconds before reverting to windows, even if I'm in a city/inn.

dont think you can go by a random webproxy, but you get a large list of diffrent servers that you can select from, so unless your Firewall OP have banned them all, you will be able to play trough one of them.


also, if you press alt+esc, u hide wow window really fast

Blizzard doesn't like proxies and may ban you if they recognize the program. I got hit with a suspension, and thats all the warning you get.
