They are also giving every single user a free month of their Playstation Plus membership once the servers are back up, and giving Qriocity subscribers a free month of Qriocity service. Certain things on the Playstation Store will be free or at a reduced price as well. Got this info from Sony's own Playstation Blog, so you can trust me![]()
Thank you for not bashing Sony.
Lol, a free month of something they were already paying for though, seems a little ehhh. They definitely aren't making another playstation, considering their stocks/trust have gone down attrociously.
It wasn't 4chan or anonops. They were discussing over an IRC channel, and again, no, it wasn't anonops' IRC.
The first attack: Private Paste - Pastie, no credit cards were obtained, however all other personal details were taken.
The second attack: Sadly I don't have a transcript. This is where they obtained credit card information (and the personal details again), however they only obtained around 12000 cards, all of which were entered in 2007, and most of which were in Japan.
It's rumoured that both attacks were done by the same people.
So you don't have anything to worry about if you didn't have a PSN account back in 2007 (unless you worry about your identity getting stolen, which I highly doubt).![]()

It's worth noting in the post the passwords that were stolen were HASHED (Like Encryption, But apparently different) so they weren't just stolen in base-text form.
ive been telling people for YEARS not to trust consoles. and here we are. if you lost personal info or money, i feel for you, and hope you can get your shit sorted quickly. but, i would never, EVER, E V E R give credit info online, unless it was a pay as you go card with like a $20 limit. theres no real NEED for more than that.
