uh yeah..
if you see a thread, you can "flag" it as a repost instead of reporting it, and then sending it to a diffrent section instead of flooding the report section.

IF ANYONE POSTS SOMETHING LIKE /SIGNED OR /I LIKE THIS
then you will be given infractions, im sick of it!
unless you have some constructive criticism then :shutit:

Reporting it as a repost seems fine to me, just means that if it was flagged another notification system would need to be in place thus wasting resources etc.
If you need me you have my skype, if you don't have my skype then you don't need me.
The only way I see this being able to work properly would be IF (but not limited to):
-The threads that are being marked as "repost" would require it to be flagged a minimum of X amount of times before removed.
-The only people that could flag a post as "repost" need X amount of posts.
-The only people that could flag a post as "repost" need X amount of rep.
I think this would be nice if the system was automated following the above criteria and maybe saved mods the trouble of reading topics with pages and pages of "zomg repost epic fail!!!1" before having to delete the thread.
Something to think about, or something to stress about?
I think it would have to be up to the mods imo.
Fiiiind the script for it!!!
I... /sig...I /sigh! Again people are giving good suggestions... but without scripts for it
Too bad we don't have this option yet.
But I think that it will require some "safety measures", since everybody can just report somebody's thread as a repost.. give a proove user..

I looked for it KuRIoS, didn't find anything. And, because of that, if anyone tries to make this, you should make it so that after a certain amount of flags it could be deleted or possibly have a flag in the view of all threads. It would look like a topic icon and would say repost.

We do have the 'Search for Related Threads' feature whilst making a new topic, so perhaps we could somehow run 'scans' such as this to check all threads on this site for enough words relating to that post. For example:
Some guy posts a thread on 'How to make a Hamachi Server Public' in May.
In early June, another person posts a thread titled 'How to make a private server public with Hamachi'
Someone reading realizes it's a repost and clicks the 'Flag as Re-Post' Button.
The re-post tracker sends out a scan (like searching the site) and searches for related phrases and terms. I know programs like this exist as I go to school and got busted by one.
The tracker detects that the newer post has 70% similarity to the post in May. That post gets 1 strike because more than.. let's say 25% was similar.
Two more people realize and flag it. Post closed.
I have also searched the web for a script like this, but so far I haven't found anything even tweakable to resemble this. I'll keep searching though!![]()
Really, Kurios is right. There isn't just a checkbox in the admin section saying "turn on flag for repost feature" it would be hard to make that possible.

Well, I don't have a script for it, however, there are plenty of other mods for vBulletin to do just this. (As well as tag it as other things)
I'm sure Ket/Herog/Matt can add something pretty easily. (It's more or less another table in the SQL DB, and a few options added to the "Report" button. More if you want to get complicated.)
The search cloud we have now wasn't even written for vBulletin.![]()
Yeah, the idea was if it was flagged XX times the thread would be sent to another section (hidden, maybe?) and if it wasnt a repost it coulda been moved back.
The Report button works just fine as repost button.
Sounds good but why not instead of making it delete after XX amount of flags make it close the thread from post and rep until and admin inspects it, this should stop abuse of it.
