Trick website into thinking your US resident?

Hey, sometimes I get across websites that let me download stuff, or things like that.. But they require me to be a US resident to make an account, and I'm from Europe.. So was wondering if anyone know if it's possible to trick the website into thinking your a US resident?

use a US proxy server, ( haven't tested it though)

No I'm trying to get into wowio But proxy's doesn't seem to work, cause they wont show the page that let's you create your account =/

try multiple proxy's , for voting on xtremetop100.com some proxy's didnt bring up to the voting screen and some did
