From my time scanning forums I often found myself having to refer to certain sites over and over for many reasons. Tired of copy pasting in different sites/google/windows I found a helpful add-on with some nice potential. Originally I applied this for bodybuilding.com, but I found myself wanting a WoW version as well. It allows you to highlight text and search a site via a URL building.
I will be using Thottbot and Alakazam in this first guide. MMOwned and various other uses beyond WoW in the second post.
1. Download
Go here and download this addon
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1399
2. Install/Options Page
Install and restart firefox then through either below way get to the options for this addon.
(highlight any text > right click >find using... > Options)
(Tools (up top on FF bar) > Add-ons > Advanced URL Builder > Options button)
3. Set Up Search Function
There will be two tabs up top. URLs and Misc. Choose Misc.
Using this set up below will open the built URL in a new tab, plus I can share more searches I have made.
4. Adding a Site
Now click URLs
You can click the default URLs provided and press delete or keep them for use. It has no bearing on the progress, I chose to delete them so my pictures don't have them.
Press Add and it will look like below.
Double click the "New Item" and put in Thottbot
Double click the "http://#*#*#" and paste in Thottbot: World of Warcraft
Press Ok (close Add-ons if you used the Tools to get to options)
Highlight the text: saronite ore
Right click it
Hover over Find using...
Select Thottbot
Look at new tab
Say woot I hope
5. Adding Allakhazam
Get back to options and press Add again. This time use Allakhazam for name and Search :: World of Warcraft :: Allakhazam.com for the url. Press ok and close addon window
Test on the text saronite ore again.
