I think id also depends on what tenth are you using, I mean if you say that after 0.999 goes 1 then its 0.999 or 0.9999 or 0.99999 but if you choose to go from 0.999 to 0.9999 then of course there are numbers but you can go to infinity but you will still end up at 0.9 you can go to quadrillions and still you will end up at 9, only if they would invent another number but it still would end at that one, so I guess this has something in it.. that my thoughts

Please show me a single authoritative and respective source on mathematics (such as a peer reviewed journal, a paper by a respected mathematician, etc) that refutes the idea that 0.(9) is equal to 1 (no stupid shit like changing the number system).

No really. Please do. If you can't (which is what I assume will happen) then can you please do some research before you post in future (or at THINK).

Ugh, as much as I hate to use Wikipedia as a primary source, for you I don't really give a shit. It's the only explanation I could find in the quick search I did that didn't go into gory details from the get-go with lots of language you probably wouldn't understand:

    You can't devide by zero.
As numbers are infinite there will be always a number smaller than 1, bigger than 0.999... between them..

You can never account for the last 9, so it is the same as 1. Simple as that, you can't argue with it.

Not sure if anyone pointed this out yet but...

    1/3 = 0.3333333333...

    2/3 = 0.6666666666...

    1/3 + 2/3 = 1

    And

    0.3333...
    + 0.6666...
    0.9999...

So how can you possibly say .9999... does not equal 1?

Because it simply doesn't. It's like saying that a equals to b. Two different terms, you have to either be retarded or simply stupid to believe that..

and btw. wb idusy, what happened to your old acc?:O

    If A=3 and B=3 then A=B
    and
    If A=.999999... and B=1, then A=B.

    Not a very good argument.

    Who are you?

At the end of 1/3 (.333 rep) there is a 4.
At the end of 2/3 (.666 rep) there is a 7.

The grasp of infinity is not definable in humanities mind but it is there none the less.

Also ill take your logic and ask you this:

    .9999(rep) + .9999(rep) = 2.8888 (rep)

So is it safe to assume that 2.8888 (rep) = 3?

How about 5.666 (rep) does it = 6?

    What are you on?

There is no "end" to it, that's what infinity means.
1/3 is 0.3333... with the 3 infinitely repeating.

    0.99999...
    + 0.99999... = 1.99999...

    1.99999... = 2

Where are you pulling this stuff out of?

Learn to do math before you pull shit out of your ass.

    0.9999999 (rep)
    = 0.9999999 (rep)
    --------------------
    1.8888888 (rep)

Dont be an idiot with your stupid shit, use a calculator if you want.

And I said at the end of infinity, that means the end of it. Decimals are not exact learn more then a 5th grade math level before posting here.

Holy shit I want to ****ing slap you.

I would make a video of it for you if I could.

    Open calc.exe

Type .9999 with as many 9's as you can fit

    *2

    =

    1.9999999999(

Obviously the calculator will round it, especially since we can't actually do repeating numbers on it.

"end of infinity" is oxymoronic. Infinity literally means: Without end.

If you're going to attempt to insult someone and call them an idiot, try not being an idiot first.

Ok lets try and solve this.

OP + No Life = Thread

    1+2 = 1

because 0.99999 is how many girls you slept with

Now multiply that by 2 you get 1337 then anal a sheep

Now that we have the common denominator of 1337 we will divide this by OP's iQ

1337/46 = Jesus Juice times * ship troopers.

    so yeah i guess 0.9999 = 1 because who gives a shit?

Thing is, no one calls it point nine nine. Because it's one.

    Except when discussing it, obviously.
