omg, how can you compare wow to DF?

DF is a sandbox...WoW is a carebear themepark mmo...

People here should open their mind, not thinking like sheeps.
We playing wow cause it's what we have...but DF and all sandbox MMOs are on another side.
Playing a sandbox is "freedom", not a crappy "go farm, go raid, go bed" game.

And tbh, do you really enjoy wotlk? it's FAR too easy for my taste...they removed all the things i liked...
Wellfare epix, honor and arena ruined wow...sorry....it's not worth anymore for me.

I have never laughed so much for the past 6 months than when I heard that this is the new Ultima Online. Otherwise than that I think it looks kinda cool. I will surely give it a try.

this is sadly true...DF is gonna be the nearest thing to UO you gonna see for a while (not much maybe, cause other mmo are coming). This is true cause both, DF and UO are sandbox.
Althought, UO lately sucks...become a carebeashy mmo as well (i hate TRAMMEL!)

Hers the real deal with DF.

The investors aka the guys the the cash that funded the game, now want thier money back since its been 7 years and they have seen 0 return, they have been very patient.

They basically gave DF an ultimatum, release the game fast or our lawyers will be phoning you, to get our investment back.

This is never good when your forced to release a game, then again its been 7 years hopefully they have enough shit done by now that it doesn't flop.

I honestly cannot believe that people think this will or will not kill wow. I think it is true, Wow will never die. You have to think about how different the two games are.

World of warcraft is made for children (face it, it is). Its is designed so that even one who hasn't yet seen highschool or grown a pube can be the most leet, awesome, pwner of all nubs in the game. And it only seems that blizzard is catering to the younger because well, thats their demographic and thats what companies are about. Targeting their largest demographic and marketing to them.

If the game was too hard for the majority (younger kids), they would let their ADD kick in and go to a new game or not play at all. Think about it, most of the wow population would be just fine with a flash based browser game. lol

Darkfall online is made for people who want a challenge, people who want to earn anything they get. The people that will make the switch to darkfall are the people that are sitting in org waiting for new content to be released so they can clear it in a week and AFK in org some more. Unfortunately for blizzard, that portion of players are the ones that push new content and and lead the game. There is not a single "good" wow player right now that doesn't think the game is way too easy.

Darkfall will do just fine with the player base that I just mentioned. in fact, it will do better. There wont be any young players begging for runs through vc. Thus enhancing the gameplay for the ones that are there.

If you even want to mention Pvp, good lord. Look at wows pvp system right now. It's a joke. If there is a halfway decent rouge on the other team and your a caster, forget about it. Click the icon and select "leave arena". If you can that is. Wouldn't be surprised if there is a "You cannot do that while stunned" message that pops up

I see the more mature audience of wow will move to darkfall and all the children will stay on wow. Both win, both succeed. Less income for blizzard? sure. But the majority that plays that game cannot attain the skills for darkfall. And to make a side note, ask yourself "what is keeping me on wow?" For probably 90%, its going to be Achievements. Achievements Saved wow. Its just one last tedious thing to do before you have completed release content and a reason to justify logging on.

Conclusion: Wow and darkfall will stay alive together. Darkfall will be what those who conquer wow graduate too, and what players who think wow is too easy will move too.

Neither will succeed more so then the other, there is far too much of a difference between them that even puts them in the same boat.

It doesn't look like a bad game persay, but it wont ever compete with WoW. I dont think anything will ever compete with WoW, it is just too established. I personally wont play Darkfall, it doesnt look all that great, and i play WoW more for the community, however bad it can get, and unless a community as good is build up on darkfall it's unlikely i will even concider it.

There has already been a community building up for years, a strong group of supporters waiting for the release. Like said in previous posts, Darkfall has spent next to nothing on advertising, it's already established community has done the work for them via word of mouth.

And if you read everything about this game and all, you'll see you'll change your mind.

The reason for it was because the previous one by Hellgawd was too much full of making WoW References and Differences...

This game is UNIQUE, not a copy/pasta.

I'm surely going to play this, been waiting for this game for ages! You can't compare it to WoW, as darkfall is a pure skill based sandbox game & WoW is just a game for button bashing kiddies.

I will give this game a try for sure, nothing has filled the UO pre-trammel sandbox dangerous world feel ive been searching for.. EVE online being the closest ive come across.

Darkfall is not supposed to be a WoW killer. Mainly a niche market game. On that level it could possibly be a success ala Eve Online.

Exactly. All the people that are obsessed with WoW and running 2ft back to your corpse with no penalty should stay playing WoW.

Warning, warning... The somethingawfull forums are stirring, and from the abyss rises a plan to make a guild on this game, which apparently already aproached 50+ and aiming for 100+ members.... (apparently, they amassed such a team in AOC, but everyone left after a month)

What does that mean to you?

You may know what the somethingawfull forums produces, from teams such as "Goon squad" in WoW. Now, seeing as DF is a very open ended and pvp oriented game, theres no end to the havock they can cause. If you don't know Goonsquad already, you can consider them as a team of professional trolls, and that includes all kind of trolling you can think of, including forum trolling, ingame trolling of all sorts, even chat trolling, theres just no end to it...

So either stay the hell away from the server they roll their toons on, or join them now, because being on their server will serve you a regular dose of PITA (pain in the ass). Atleast in the beginning, as theyre guaranteed to gank as many as they can... Apparently the only gank restriction is that you become hostile with cities the more you do it, but these guys won't give a shit, so it's gonna be ugly...
