While we're on the topic of browser security: The best way to avoid being exploited is to run a clean copy of your preferred browser in SandBoxie. By "clean" I mean one configured not to save form data, passwords, or cookies. If anything gets in through your browser it won't be able to break out of the sandbox to access files or modify your startup.

Firefox 3 is the best, plain and simple. Obviously Apple are going to talk up Safari, because it's their browser.

You didn't include chrome which is definitely the fastest browser.

Just look at benchmarks and tests, you will be surprised:
Speed test: Google Chrome beats Firefox, IE, Safari | Business Tech - CNET News
    Google Chrome - Performance-Test - Video.Golem.de

    SunSpider benchmark (Smaller is better)

There is no doubt that Chrome more than lives up to its performance claims: it is the fastest browser we've seen on standard platforms. That may not be too surprising - one of the people behind the V8 JavaScript compiler is Lars Bak, who was the lead developer on the high-performance Sun Java VM that became HotSpot.
Note: Those benchmarks are from chrome beta a couple of month ago, it's probably even faster now.

The biggest reason why people don't use it is because it doesn't have "adblock" plugin. I can understand that but I've never used it anyway so it's not a problem for me. I've tried to use it in firefox but eventually end up disabling it as I don't feel any difference - my brain automatically ignore ads :P If you're the same, use chrome!

tbh it all depends on the speed of your actual net.
