    [Guide] How To Chargeback

Here is a guide i wrote for my forum, and another forum i visit, and i thought i'd post it here to try and get out of leecher status, and contribute something to the community.

Basically, this guide describes, in detail, how to Chargeback a payment made with Paypal. You can use this anywhere you like really. I have used it to buy gold, then chargeback... Free gold basically.

This was Originally written for the game Silkroad Online... So sorry for any references to that.

(If this is allowed here, feel free to remove it - It is fraud afterall >.<)

    The Guide

Firstly, you need to know that if you are charging back on International Silkroad, ECSRO Server, or any other Silkroad servers, you will be banned without fail. And there is a very slim chance that you will be unbanned, ever.

If you are still 100% sure that you want to chargeback, firstly goto Paypal. Once logged in, goto your History section. Find the payment you want to chargeback, and click Details, as shown below:

On the next page you will find lots of information about the payment details, receiver details act. All you need to take an interest in, is the Unique Transaction ID #, as shown below.

I have censored my ID, but you will see a long line of numbers and letters. Copy the whole thing, after #. You do not need the # symbol. Once you have the number go back the your My Account page, after, goto the Resolution Centre and click Dispute a Transaction, as shown below.

Next, click Item dispute, which will be the first check box option on the next page. Once you have clicked the box, click Continue. On the next page, enter the Transaction ID that you copied earlier.

On the next page, click the I haven't received my item check-box, and click Continue.
The following page is where you need to enter what type of product you are charging back on, and the reason. Select the correct option from the drop down list. For Silk or other virtual items such as Gold, you need to select 'Virtual Goods - Delivered electronically'.
In the large text box underneath, enter the reason why you want to chargeback. This can be as simple or as in-detail as you want. Once done, click Continue.

After this, you should see a confirmation messege saying your dispute has been registered. There is one more thing to do until the chargeback is complete.

Go into the Resolution Centre and click View on the dispute you have just opened.
On the next page you will see another 2 boxes, and lots of other information. Usually, your name, Transaction ID, seller and item details. The following image should explain all what you need to do.

On the next page, select an option from the drop-down menu. I normally select 'The seller indicated the the consignment should of arrived by now'. Then click BOTH the boxes underneath.
Add any additional information in the box at the bottom. I normally just enter something like 'Still didnt receieve item' here. You cannot leave that section blank, or your chargeback will fail.
Once you are happy with your reply, click the Escalate to a Claim icon at the bottom of the page, as shown in the image below.

After that, wait for the next page to load. This may take a short time, but do not click Refresh, and only click the Escalate icon once.

On the next page, you should see this:

You have succesfully issued a dispute. Now you need some patience.
Paypal will force a refund after a short while. It has never taken more than 24 hours for me to receive a refund. Once the claim is settled and a refund has been issued, the Status on your History page will change from Completed to Refunded.

    Notes

    * Chargeback lowers your credit rating. Charging back too much could lead to a bad credit record, which could stop you getting credit cards or other credit in the future.
    * Charging back can lead to criminal actions against you. If you have receieved the item and then force chargeback via paypal, you are commiting fraud.
    * Charing back on a Silkroad Online account WILL get your account banned, which is great if your certain about quitting, but not the best idea if you want to go back, or just want your money back.
