    Computer Help!

So, I downloaded a file, and I did not virus scan it because I was in a hurry. It turned out to be a virus, and it installed some "fake" antivirus programs on my computer, that pop up every minute or so. I figured out how to stop them from coming up, but my taskbar flashes (It would disappear and come right back) for about 5 secs every 30 secs. After a while the taskbar would not come back, and I can't see any of the icons and I can not open start.

    What should I do?

(Sorry, I am a computer noob)

A system restore might work, but more than likely will fail. I recommend just to start with a fresh windows install. If you have an Ubuntu disk, run it in the live move and backup any files you need to an online storage site or an external hard drive. The best way to clear it up is to just re install windows, you can even try to just reinstall on the previous partition that way you can still access your files. They should be in C:\Windows\WindowsOld (something like that) you can find your documents, pictures music in there. once you have your music and important files out it is safe to delete the WindowsOld folder.

If that's too confusing if a system restore fails just reformat your hard drive and re install windows. Hope it helps you some what man sorry, about the crash hope you don't loose any important files like I have before! Good luck

    go to
Trend Micro HouseCall - Free Online Virus and Spyware Scan - Trend Micro USA
and run a scan, while that's going go to
    Ad-Aware 2008 - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com
    download ad-aware, install it.

run an ad-aware scan, and let the trendmicro finish it's scan. together, that will clean it all out. if it doesn't, post again and let me know.
