this will be a thread like
use windows! its better than linsux
use linux! its better than winblows

everybody has his own preferences why something is better than something else, but go ahead...

i think you should stay at windows, not every program runs on linux
Zomfg. And no, don't ask. - Dombo did it.

ah yes true. i just want to see what linux users like about it. if i decide not to then when i build up a computer ill use windows on that and make my laptop linux.

desktop with windows = gaming machine
    laptop with linux = homework

Relz is a biased idiot (I'll talk to you on MSN, foo!).

Anyway, if you're aiming for gaming I'd recommend you sticking with Windows.
If you're aiming for web administration, hacking, pentesting, programming, then go with Linux.

As for differences, there is absolutely no relevant major differences between Ubuntu and Windows, they're quite similar, except visual looks and some incompatibilities.

If you want to try the REAL Linux, go with a different distribution.
    I vote for Slackware. ;D

i would choose ubuntu unless you are complete game freak, then stay on windows if you are. most games work on ubuntu with cedega or wine. i am using ubuntu with wine and only 2 programs out of about 300 didnt work. and those were keygens. Ubuntu is free. i also figured out something that you can do in terminal(CMD for windows) Ubuntu is a tiny bit harder to use. but has easy access to files for linux. just go to Add/Remove programs. or Synaptic. Basicly no viruses whats ever. no firewall because you dont need it but if you want it just get firestarter. nicer looks. more support. should i go on?
