either that or they are using a REALLY shitty gateway server (IE. not ISA 2003). ISA 2003 allows you to block connecting directly to ip's by resolving that IP against DNG to get the host name then checking the ban's list for the resolved DNS name. it's 1 tick box & i'm surprised that your admin's havn't picked up on this, was one of the first things I did as it's a HUGE security loop for getting IN to the school aswell as getting stuff out.
Net send was disabled in service pack 2, they disabled it by making sure that the messenger service was set to disabled by default, not may systems admins turn this service on as it's a huge security hole again.
Give admin powers:
C:>net localgroup administrator (Username) /ADD
Exmaple: C:>net localgroup administrator NAMEHERE /ADD
I don't see how this would work, you would need the local admin's username & password, same was if you wanna dd yourself as a domain admin you would need a member of "alldomainadmin" to authenticate you.
