[Show-Off][Rate] Errage finally decided to attempt an Avatar!

Hello Graphic experts and beginners and anything between.

I've been slowly working on things in Photoshop, playing around, making Sigs, but nothing smaller. I tried an avatar once and scrapped it, I don't like working with the small space, but I decided my old avatar just didn't fit my sig at all, so I decided to give it a shot.

I grabbed a simple pic, Grayscale'd it, blurred everything but the eyeball, sharpened the eyeball, and added+blurred a small 'border', then colored the iris green.

Tell me what you think / rate please

EDIT: If you think you can make an Avatar to better fit my signature, please feel free to post it ^^

First off not bad with the selective saturation. But the blur dosent work well. Possibly a zoom radias around the eye might be more effective. I advise you use a white 1pxl border instead of the current one you have it will give it a more classy finish.

Last thing it looks abit odd shaped (stretched upwards) Possibly reduce the height a tad.

Still learning, Blur was the only thing I knew how to do, so explain a bit on 'zoom radias'?

And I HATE the little line borders, I can't stand them, so not a chance there >.<

Your definitely going over a learning curb right now. What I could recommend is following tutorials to learn more and more techniques to blending backgrounds and making your avatar flow more. I can't say I dislike or like the avatar, all I can say is it needs work and I'm sure you can improve on it. Try and do some animation and color switching to give it more appeal.

Do NOT do animation, by far the most tacky'est thing on the planet. Send me the Ava's psd format and ill apply the chanegs i was talking about, I'll send you the psd back so you can see what i did.

It looks very good Errage, but only the edges should have been a bit better.

    Try the following :

Select the whole picture -> Copy it all -> Open a new document with the size of the picture +20px width and height -> insert your current picture -> select it with a selection tool -> Refine (or redefine Oo) edges or just Feather and there play a bit around -> you should get a nice smooth effect!
