Are Paint Brushes Cheats?

its just more about saying "Hey I made this, what do you think" when all over it is brushes not made "by you".

Does that mean if you take a picture of something you didnt make, the picture isnt made by you? The art is still yours, its just you used someone elses way to get there, everyone has their own imagination and creates their own sigs.

If you really worry like this, a tip to make some grungy looking brushes.

Take some random photos from around your area. Open them in PS.
Use the magic wand tool to select a random area.
C&P it into a new doc (With a transparent BG).
Convert it to greyscale.
Save as brush.

VOILA!

well, this got a lot more responce than i anticipated, im gonna continue using brushes, 'cause it is still my manipulation of the brushes, and my selection of the colors used. no one else did that but me.

Tbh saying brushes are cheats is like saying the functions Adobe put into Photoshop is cheats. They made the functions in PS and you use them almost everytime you make a sig, avatar, gfx, graphic, etc. Also if someone wants to share their art in the form of a brush then it wouldn't be cheats because they made it and gave it to the public and PS was made to use brushes.

dont worry about it bro its simply saving you time. im sure you can take a brush and make it by yourself if you are half as good as you say. Everyone uses brushes, if you feel so bad then change your brush settings a little, change the size, maybe scatter it a little.
