You guys definitely don't design for work or for practice (When I say practice I mean it as in a job / hobby).

This made lol irl actually. I went to art school for 3 1/2 years, and I am actually doing storyboards for a video game right now. I have designed several logos for pay, and I have several web templates for my own personal portfolio when I decide to put it up.

I'll be honest, lay it out a bit. I'm all about constructive criticism.
The original work is nice, it looks good.

600 highlights - dodge and burn - filters - etc.
It's Photoshop, there's about 4-5 means to each end.

Also, I assume that when you are creating a signature, you're not working with a canvas that's pre-sized to the max allowable dimensions of a forum avatar, I'm sure you're working with something larger, higher pixel count, and etc.

Sizing an image down from something much larger with a higher resolution, does it's own 'fixes' of what might be various pixellation mishaps...which DO happen.

So my main crituque is this, 600+ highlights layered in, is a bit much, and possibly slowing you down from a product that would have looked exactly the same if you had used a faster method. Being exact might be important, but detail gets lost to the eye the smaller the image gets.

But the work, it does look nice, I can't say it's got anything weird about the color palette, tones, or lighting you created.

Rating 8/10.
Final product looks nice, hearing about the superfluous amount of possible 'extra' work, makes me think you could whip up something very similar in far less time.

Oh damns. You should start practicing now. Get in an art class / digital photography class. By the time your 18 you'll be doing work commercially.

Not bad, Render needs bended more. try adding some more detail to it. Add some brushing or Clipping Masks...

Try Adding some line pentool, always spices things up..

Its good but it looks kinda boring.
