I am not him. I'm really not but honestly I don't care if you think I am him, I am simply trying to help you out by explaining the situation here in Australia. I am not debating with you the ethics behind his actions (I think it's scumbag behavior myself), I am saying as an Australian who uses gold selling to top up my income how it works here.

We have weird laws and weird ways of working on certain issues (particularly virtual commodities) and what I have said is not wrong regarding the typical outcomes. I know because I have been down this pathway when I got scammed out of gold I was selling. In that case since the commodity was legal I literally logged a complaint with the small claims court and the consumer watchdog in my state and recovered my money.

I mean think about it "My dr_g dealer screwed me out of my money" do you really think they will let me sue him for them money? Like seriously? You entered in to a transaction where you were trading what is considered illegal in Australia. Thus by Australian law you have no contract in place and thus you have no protection under Australian law.

Additionally if you report the matter to the police it's bit like reporting your dealer for selling you dr_gs, they will likely charge you as well for you role in the matter.

But if you are going to sue him I would use an Australian lawyer as they will know the avenues you have available to you here where the guy supposedly lives. Personally I would hit up my bank first and see if they can help recover it for you because suing someone will likely cost more than that in fees and court expenses.

I remember back in 2006 someone scammed me from a state away, showed up at his front door, and his mother begged me not to call the police, even tried to give me money out her purse, all while her son locked himself in his room (He was 18!!!!!)

    LOL

You really cant tell much behind a computer, but the moment you show up at someones door their personalities change and they cry wolf
It can also back fire when they call the cops on you. And you get done instead.

paypal will help as well if you give them the police report number they will release all personal information they have on that paypal account
All the details prove is that he had a conversation with him to buy a product that is not legal to sell within Australia. The same way I can have a detailed record of my dr_g deal with a dealer. Doesn't mean that I am magically safe and protected if he/she scams me.

Have you been there done that here in Australia? Have you actual proof that they got locked up for 48 hours? And being locked up for 48 hours means nothing if no charges are laid. Sorry but I really don't see much punishment being handed out here as a likely outcome. The OP got scammed, it happens and is a well known risk when entering into these types of transactions. At best they get their money back, at worst they get nothing back but lesson learnt.

you probably got his first and surname, you and a mate can take a flight down there, go beat him to an inch of his life, and take all the money he got, eventually threaten him to sell the car he got in his facebook page, trust me if you do this he will give you all the money you lost and more.
but yeah as written above to, most likely all you have to do is show up at his door, probably wont even have to touch the guy before he pisses himself, or call the cops if u chicken out when ur down there.

its not as hard as it sounds, and == profit, anyways send me his real name on PM (you got it on paypal recites)

Selling and sharing WoW accounts is against the Blizzard tos HOWEVER stealing more than 299(real) dollars is Grand Theft and punishable by prison time.

Siting:: Man imprisoned on fraud and theft charges over account selling scam

Get this guy arrested. Dont call your lawyer, go to your police station and file a police report. Or have your police department contact his or directly contact his local police department.

TO SCAMMER::: If you're reading this, its too late. Hope you have 20,000 dollars to post bail. And I hope spending a little of that money is worth it. If you have a family, if you have a job or school, take a few minutes to think about how you royally screwed up.\

TO OP::: Gimme some heroic gear plzzz. No raid guild wants me this late in the xpac =(

Considering you actually spent 2500 dollar on a wow account i guess your not the toughest mother****er in your street, probably never thrown a punch in anger, so i guess the most rational course of action for you is to press charges because it is Grand theft.

You only have to put up 10% of the posted bail to get out, just saying.

But to the OP, take every measure you can to get this guy what he deserves. You have a case and there is a way to make sure you come out on top somehow. You may not get the money back but you can teach this guy who scammed you a pretty good lesson for the future.

    Best of luck!
