Java Applet Move object with mouse

I wonder how I can move for example a rectangle with mouse.

I need to use this for a game I'm working on.
The idea is that you move a rabbit in x angle to catch falling carrots.

Anyone got any tips on creating a menu for the game in the applet or is there a way
to call the init method once the game is over?
