I'm not saying you made instructions wrong nor pointing this at you - So much I even replied this without quoting you. I followed what you said, opened the game and it worked this time, for whatever reason.
My screenshot wasn't for you, it was for other people that had the same problem. It doesn't hurt for me to post a screenshot that maybe help.
It might be healthy for your blood pressure to stop feeling attacked by everything that is posted on this thread, just because you are the owner of it. Not everything is an attack but that might be just what you are used to.

For the past 5 months, I have said to do what you have today.
But for some reason, you extracted to the guides folder, when I said not to.

The past 3 people with a Mac, used the same software you did.

But in all this time, you said it did not work.

First off, I want to thank BlueRainsky for the years of providing this wonderful FREE gift. Personally, I only use it for the Rare Finder addon but for some reason its not working for me on 4.6.9 or 4.7.7. Please note I am a complete noob when it comes to coding and such so I have no clue how this stuff works but I did read a previous comment that replacing #cata with #mop should make previous versions of RXP work again and they did work. The guides themselves work great though from todays update by Blue and I imagine that once MOP is fully released we will get a more stable version of RXP. That being said, I got this working today after trying everything I could think of for about a week when the app stopped working. Here's what I did on PC.
1. CLEAR THE SAVED VARIABLES!!!! This is the step I kept failing to do!
2. download rxp from curseforge and select interupt on the update portion. (I need to do more tests to see if the rare scanner works on a previous version)
3. download the file from page 1 and extract it with a program like 7zip or winrar not the included program already on the computer.
3. Place extracted file (there are 3 to choose from and you only need 1) into your addons folder. Mine is C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\_classic_\Interface\AddOns. You will now have RXPGuides AND RXP Leveling in your addons folder.
4. Close and reboot wow completely.
5. be grateful someone like Blue exists that took the time to provide this for you
If anyone has the answer or ideas to getting that scanner working again I would love to hear it.

What scanner

The issue is

People do not say they had the addon before and never deleted the savedvariables.
When asked multiple times, have they had it before they do not say.
When I ask multiple times have they deleted the savedvariables they do not say.

People expect top to know what they have done when they do not want to say.

When they intentionally take the file, not read how to install and mess it up. They do not want to say what they did, because it would be admitting they are wrong.
Instead they blame me for their actions.

I am exactly like you only using this for the rarescanner as it's the best on the market.

Don't worry you are not stupid at all, the addon was not functional until the 5th. Happy you got it working after restarting the game fully.

So it is rarescanner not the guides I provide.

Seeing I had to guess because all was said was scanner. Seeing the addon is said to detect the files.

Well seems installing the addon I provide is as easy as i said it is.

The person that had issues with it on Mac. Finally did as I said, not what they thought they said.
So yes it is an addon
Yes it does work as I said because I made it
Yes it does go in addons because it an addon

If it does not work, that is caused by the user. If they do not want to follow the simple process. I am not to blame for it.

yes blue you are right your instructions were spot on. I just wanted to share my experience as someone who is a youtube warrior not a professional. The only difference I think is the first page does not show to delete the saved variables. I know you mentioned it in later posts in your thread but we both know most of the people here are impatient and just want a quick fix without researching how to do it. The addon works for the guides perfectly. However, the rare scanner that is included in the addon is not working right now. It used to have a wide range and once detected, you could select a button that would target that rare. Also, No luck so far on previous versions so I think they are only releasing part of the addon right now not the full version. That or we have to use the old version and replace the #cata with #mop ? idk i'll try that today and see if I can get it to start again. I tried v4.5.23 and the rare scanner populated the sewer monster in stormwind but when I clicked the button, it didnt work. Then I went to a rare by thunderbluff at lvl 1 and the addon did not populate anything. Perhaps the rares change spots again in mop and thats why the addon is not working at lower levels? I haven't tried to upper level ones yet.

Hey Rain, just want to give a massive thank you for this!!!

The addon works as you have stated tirelessly, and honestly I feel for you having to deal with a few of these bad eggs.

I think some people use their brains a bit different, so for those of you still having questions even though it is spelled out for you, follow these steps:

1. Check to see if you have saved variables for the RestedXP guides addon and delete them if you do. Default saved variable location: C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\_classic_\WTF\Account\*account name*\SavedVariables
2. Install the restedxpguides addon from the link in the OP
3. Download and extract the relevant guides to the addon folder
4. Make sure you are on a character that is horde or alliance to see the relevant guides. The other guides will not show up.

I hope that helps.

As for Blue, I know that the guides aren't fully available for the 85-90 section yet, but once they are, typically how long does it take for you to update the post? This is more of a curiosity thing, and by no means do you need to have a solid answer. I appreciate everything you are doing and hope you are having a great day!

Does anyone have a suggestion on which rxp version works best? Still haven't had any luck with reactivating the rare finder in the newer addons
