You have to do the same with the textures. (sometimes this is necessary)

I've been doing edits for some time now but now I find with warcraft studio, it loads everything finem (even common.MPQ), textures view and can be played with, but as soon as I click a .m2 file it crashes. And it wont let me right click to extract it or even to copy tree path. (note I've tried this on 3 different systems, same issue on each)

So guess no more editing (that involves swops) for me until theres an update.

Somebody said that this is "old-school" and bannable. Is there any non-detectable method to swap models?

I'm trying to switch my model my Zhevra mount to the Spectral Tiger, and it plain isn't working, I did everything like described in the tut and it isn't working. x.X I found my ZebraHorseSkin_Black.blp and found the Spectral tiger one, I lost the name, and renamed it to ZebraHorseSkin_Black.blp. Copy and pasted Create/w/e/w/e/ then put in ZebraHorseSkin_Black.blp and yeahhhh, it showed up AS the spectral tiger in that viewer but not in the game.... am I messing something up

Same here - i was kinda hoping to having a [Druid Catform -> Worgen] up running, but sadly noone is able to touch the .M2-files. You can make all the changes in the world - as long as you don't touch any of the M2-files. So it's pretty unfortunate that it's such an important file... Grrrr... KELLY CLARKSON!!!

    Edit:
This is what i got from the error report:
    AppName: mywarcraftstudio.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.2719 ModName: m2craft.dll
    ModVer: 1.0.0.2733 Offset: 00006820

    Sorry for the double post!

But as quite a few now have complained about, there's some trouble with handling the .M2-files...

Whenever you mark/select a .M2-file, the program simply shuts down. As i wrote in the former post, i was trying to make a recreation of Andriges [Druid Cat/Tauren Druid Cat -> Worgen]-skin, but failed fatally as i was unable to extract the .M2-file. BUT - I've finally managed to find a way around...

    1) Load the MPQ-file (common.MPQ, common-2.MPQ, patch.MPQ etc.) into MyWarCraftStudio.
    2) Locate the directory of the .M2-file, but do NOT select the individual .M2-file.
    3) Select the folder containing the .M2-file.
    4) Right Click the folder and click [Extract Folder...]
    5) Vola - the folder and all the files - Including the infamous .M2-file - has been extracted, and can now be further manipulated.

If you then wish to e.g. Reskin something, then simply locate whatever Model you wish to reskin, copy the names of each of the files (i like to Extract the folder of whichever model i reskin so i can right click the files, press Rename and copy the names of the files.) and rename all the files. That means that if you're making a Night Elf Female into a Blood Elf Female, you need to rename all the "BloodElf" .BLP, .M2 etc. into "NightElf". Well, i'm sure everybody already knows this, so i guess there's no reason for me to explain into tiny details. I'm sure you get the idea!

My apologies if you all already knew this. But hence the many complaints regarding the .M2-files, i figured i'd post my progress!

    Regards,
    Bill

Yes. The skins will turn back to their original self once you remove the MPQ files you added. Just be careful not to remove the original MPQ-files.

    @Sneakys

If i'm not mistaken, you need to apply .skin-files to your MPQ directory.

Actually, i'm not completely sure what causes this bug, since i don't know the use of every file-type located in the MPQ-files. But i believe this bug occurs when some files are missing.

Did you create the Mod manually - i.e. Extracting all the files, renaming them and putting the renamed files into a new MPQ?

    thanks m8 it worked.

only bad thing is: when i use the flightpath my game crashes. as soon as i click the flightpath npc i see the same thing on the screenshot above and then crashes. any solution for that ?

i also see that skin if i mount up, but that doesn't crash the game
