    1. Open up MPQ Master

Okay, I read later in the post that you have to use MWS now, so I did.
    2. Go to Model.MPQ

Read later in the post that it's merged into common, so I opened common.
    3. get the race you want changed to and Copy it into World of Warcraft\Data\YourRealRace\YourGender\(save here)

Okay, easy enough. I'm assuming you have to manually make the folders because they don't exist in my WoW data folder.
    4. open up texture.MPQ

Okay, I opened up CHARACTER(not Character) in MWS assuming it was textures, and I'm probably right.
    5. find the race you want changed to, not your real race, do not go into gender yet

Uh, okay. Kind of weird, but I opened JUST the race.
    6. extract all the files not in a gender to the file above that you saved the model into, BUT dont save it in the gender folder

Okay. extract all the files NOT IN GENDER. When I do this and I open the folder, inside the folder is Female and Male. Is that right? Who knows, no one in this thread really helps ya! Now onto the step where I save the folder. "that you saved the model into, BUT dont save it in the gender folder" okay, very blurry and weird. Didn't I save the model file into gender, and you're telling me to save the textures in the file I saved model into, then later in the sentence, you're telling me NOT to save the file into gender. Whaaaat? Whatever, I'll just assume he meant save the file into the Data folder(which is probably wrong, but who knows! no one really helps ya!)
    7. now go to the gender u want changed into

      Okay..
    8. pull all of those files into the folder above, and save it actually in the gender's folder (with the model)

The folder above... nice. I'll assume you mean my World of Warcraft/Data/YourRealRace/Your Gender. Not really clear enough there, buddy.
    9. Open up Renamer, and rename the race (and gender if required)

Wait, what? Renamer? What the hell is renamer? And what race? You mean the folders I made at the start? (World of Warcraft\Data\YourRealRace\YourGender). I'll just have to assume that's what you mean.
    10. close renamer, and open up MyWarcraftStudio

      k. (not like I had renamer opened because I dunno wtf it is)
    11. Make the Speech2.MPQ and put your file into the data folder and add the model (just like any other model change u have to add it like Character\Race\Gender)

I have no idea what the hell you mean here. Make a speech2.mpq? What? How? What model?
    12. Add all the files into your Speech2 using MPQ master

      What speech2 file?
    13. and youre done!!!

Oh, yippy! That helped a noob like me!
    "

I'm not trying to insult you. I'm just saying it's unreadable/not understandable by the general model editing noobs.

Late! Hope you revise the guide or at least help us!

Mind if I use your post? didn't think so :P
    1. Use MyWarcraftStudio version 10, only that way it will work, you can find it on the forums somwhere :P just look around like I did, probably in the guides section

2.Go to Common:"Character" and then into the race folder for the textures, and CHARACTER for the model

3.what you said is right, extract the files of the race you want YOUR race to be turned INTO, doesn't realy metter where you extract them to

    4.see part 2

    5. look at gnome folder for a second, there are: 2 folders there, and many texture files, want he wants you to do is copy all the files outside the 2 Gender folders, easy enough

    6. what hes telling you that you extracted the Model into say "Data/Gnome/Male", copy the files into "Data/Gnome" only now, kk?

    7. now, this where it gets abit messy I will try to rexplain the previous steps in this stage: lets take me for example to make it much easier: I wanted to turn Gnome Male into Undead Male, so I go to "SCOURGE" section, inside "CHARACTER" copy the Male model into "Data/SCOURGE/Male", then I go into "SCOURGE" in the "Character" Folder, extract all the files outside the gender folder, which should be named like: Character\SCOURGE\FacialLowerHair00_00.blp
Save them to "Data\SCOURGE" >>not<< in the previous "Male" Folder, so far so good.
now you go into "Common.mpq\SCOURGE\Male", and extract the files like you did the files outside the "Male " folder, this time copy the files into "Data\SCOURGE\Male", together with the item you copied from "CHARACTER\SCOURGE\Male"

    8. you can do this without renamer, its just easier: here's what you do/renamer does for you: you change all the files named say :"ScourgeMaleFaceLower00_00.blp"
    into: "GnomeMaleFaceLower00_00.blp"
    takes loads of time :P

    this might be alittle confusing:
    9. read this whole and then start to work on it:Go back to MWS, instead of going to File: "Opem MPQ archive" go to :
Pack: "Create MPQ Archive" call it "Patch-X" where X= any number between 4 and 9 or any other abc letter. save this mpq archive at the data folder, near "Common.mpq" and all the rest.
now, you click Pack agian, "Add file to this archive", and you add the files you renamed, first those outside the male folder, then thos inside: but wait! when you press the file you want to add, only the "GnomeMaleFaceLower00_00.blp"
line will apear, what you need to do is open up another MWS in the background, go to "Character\Gnome" and use the "Copy TreePath" option, instead of "Extract" it will look like "Character\SCOURGE\MALE\ScourgeMaleFaceLower00_00.blp", save it into notepad file. now lets work on the files outside the gender folder: say "Character\Gnome\FacialLowerHair00_00.blp"
, do the pack-add file step I said befor, and add the "Character\Gnome\" part befor "GnomeMaleFaceLower00_00.blp", when you click OK it should manualy create a folder in this mpq archive called "Character", inside you will have another "Gnome" folder, where after you are done extracting all the files should be containing "Male" aswell. a note to the "m2" file, which is actualy the UD model named like "GnomeMale.m2"
you need to copy his treepath seperatly, because he is in the "CHARACTER" folder, and not the "Character", so don't paste the "Character\Gnome\Male\GnomeMale.m2" treepath, but "CHARACTER\Gnome\Male\GnomeMale.m2"
if you did it correctly you should end up with an mpq file like the "Common" 1 , but with alot less folders you should have this files in it: "Character" folder, inside it: "Gnome"inside that 1 alot of .blp files and another "Male" folder, which got more .blp files.
you should also have a "CHARACTER" folder, with a folder named "Gnome" in it, inside the "Gnome" folder you should have "Male", inside that male folder you should have "GnomeMale.m2"
all you need to do is use the "Save and close archive" option, which is in "Pack" agian, and start wow with "ModelEditFix" from http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...-edit-fix.html
hope that makes this guide alot easier to read!

Re: How to Model edit: RACE TO RACE

Well being a noob too a lot of what has been posted melted my brain a bit, but I was eventually able to glean the gist of what to do and edit my Undead Warrior into a Night Elf Female.

I took the information I found in various how-to threads on here and made a very basic guide for us beginners. Keep in mind I probably did things the complicated way or maybe didn't do some things at all, so please don't be too critical All credit goes to the OP and other guide authors.

    Programs you'll need:

    XnView
    MyWarcraftStudio version 10

Part 1: Your World of Warcraft Directory

    1. Locate your World of Warcraft directory (e.g. C/Program Files/World of Warcraft)

    2. Open your "Data" folder (C/Program Files/World of Warcraft/Data).

    3. Now create a new folder and name it your current race.

    World of Warcraft\Data\YourRealRace\

    4. Now create another folder inside that one and name it the same as your current gender.

    World of Warcraft\Data\YourRealRace\YourGender

    Part 2: MyWarcraftStudio

    1. Open MyWarCraftStudio Version 10.

    2. Go to File and select "Open .MPQ Archive...".

    3. Locate your Data folder in your World of Warcraft directory.

    4. Select "common.MPQ" and open it.

    5. This should reveal a number of folders:

    6. Expand the "CHARACTER" (all capitals) folder.

    7. Locate the folder of the race you intend to turn your character into (e.g. I am an Undead Male wanting to be a Night Elf Female, so I select "NIGHTELF").

    8. Navigate to the desired gender (in this example, "Female").

    9. Inside is the "NightElfFemale.m2" file. Left-click "NightElfFemale.m2" to highlight it, then right-click it - choose "Extract File To...".

    10. Extract the file "NightElfFemale.m2" to the folder we made in Part 1:

    World of Warcraft\Data\YourRealRace\YourGender\(extract to here)

    11. Expand the Character (not all capitals) folder, and navigate to your desired race's folder (NIGHTELF). You should see a lot of .blp files and two gender folders. Don't go into the gender folders just yet, first we'll extract all the .blp files outside the gender folders into the directory we made in Part 1.

    World of Warcraft\Data\YourRealRace\(extract to here)

Remember to left-click each file you wish to extract in order to highlight it, before right-clicking to extract it.

    12. Once you've extracted all the .blp files outside the gender folders, go into your desired gender's folder (in this guide it's Female) and extract all the .blp files in the Female folder to the directory you made in Part 1.

    World of Warcraft\Data\YourRealRace\YourGender\(extract to here)

    13. Now it's time the files you just extracted, which you can do manually - but we'll use a program called XnView to make things easier.

Open XnView, then navigate to this folder: World of Warcraft\Data\YourRealRace

Select any of the .blp files in there and then go to Edit > Select All. Now that they're all highlighted, right-click any of the .blp files and select "Rename...".

Make sure "Replace" and "Case sensitive" are checked, then type in the race/gender currently on the .blp files (e.g. NightElfFemale), and in the box underneath marked "With", type in the race/gender that your character is currently (e.g. ScourgeMale). Now make the same changes to the .blp files inside the gender folder.

    14. Go back to MyWarcraftStudio, and go to "Pack" then "Create MPQ archive" (if it asks you if you want to close the current archive, click Yes). In the box that appears, type in "patch-X" where X = any number between 4 and 9 or any other abc letter. I called mine patch-f. Save it in the Data folder in your WoW directory (same spot as common.mpq etc).

    15. Click on Pack, then select "Add file to archive...". Navigate to the Race folder you made inside your Data directory (e.g. SCOURGE) and select the first .blp file.

Before clicking "OK", add "Character\Race" in front of it (see picture).

This manually creates folders in your MPQ that mirror the folder structure found in common.MPQ.

You should see something like this now:

Once you've extracted all the .blp files outside of the gender folder, you can move onto those inside the gender folder, but make sure to include "Character\Race\Gender" in front of them, so the folder structure looks similar to that in the below picture:

Once you've extracted all those .blp files, find the .m2 file in your "World of Warcraft\Data\YourRealRace\YourGender" directory and add "CHARACTER\Race\Gender\" in front of it.

Once you've done all that, go to Pack and select "Save and close archive".

You will need to download ModelEditFix for your MPQs to work, get the latest version here.

Re: How to Model edit: RACE TO RACE

Alrighty! Special thanks to Tyzz for posting the most informative guide in the thread. If I can figure out what's ailing me in the final steps of this race -> change I'll post a newer updated guide. However, I have a few problems that need to be addressed first!

I have no idea how to

    A) Change my dudes Texture
    B) Fix my dudes eyes.

I changed from a Tauren Male to a Draenai Female, but the texture is still cow-ish and the eyes are blank, not to mention they turn into black rectangles when she blinks. Peep these screenshots, if you will:

If anyone could help me fix these last final problems I'd be glad to post a totally up-to-date guide on implementing this, as well as adding my MPQ file to the RACE -> RACE compendium.

    Thanks,
    Smythe
