Guide on how to swap Race Model --> Race Model for Vanilla 1.12.1?

Hey, making this thread because I seem to have lost around half of my previous model swaps I had saved.

The first time I was on a Vanilla private server I decided to come to Ownedcore to see if anyone knew how to perform model swaps for Vanilla (Notably Troll>Blood Elf) since I couldn't use Tmorph, and I found no guide in the many pages I searched and that is still the case, although I was eventually successful in obtaining the files I needed I wasn't given a guide on how to actually do it and since that time I've re-installed windows a few times and subsequently lost many of the files I once had.

Alas, There is no simple "Guide" on how to edit Vanilla models easily on this forum to my knowledge after searching every page, especially when it involves taking a model from BC (Like Draenei or Blood Elf models) and using them in the vanilla game, I found my models because one was posted on this forum and the other was sent to me by a really helpful guy via PM, but that mail has since been deleted (for unknown reasons)

I know it's possible, and I'd like to do it, but I have no idea where to start.

I'd like to know how to perform Race-->Race swaps for 1.12.1, and I think others would appreciate learning how to actually do this since so many people request swaps, thanks.

It's the same method than editing Wotlk races and you'll find plenty of guides everywhere.
For the Draenei and Blood elves, you can use the Burning Crusade alpha models.
Otherwise, backporting models from BC is possible but a bit tricky and there is no guide (yet).
