    A few problems

so after ~5 hours of "try & error" i don't know what to do anymore, also i couldn't find an actual 4.0.6 guide which works

so first problem is, i can't convert original .blp's into .png's via BLPConverter, BLP2TGA etc, none of them works (even when i add -h or -r or whatever to the shortcut direction it doesn't work)
but if i use a already edited .blp, i can convert it into a .png and back

there's the second problem, the changes i do don't apply to wow
here a few things i already tried:

-save the .png as RBG or Inducted (max 256 colors which should be 8bit)
-create a MPQ via ladik's at a hash size of 4 (just one file), 4096 (2,5k+ files), 8182 (dunno anymore) because i read in an older guide that sometimes it is necessary
    -set the MPQ to version 2.0 / 3.0 / 4.0

i did not edit the resolution as the downloaded/edited skin already works when i don't edit it myself, the only thing i do is just paint a black line or erase parts, just to test several options (like mentioned above)

i hope somebody can explain me a bit (especially why my BLPConverter won't do shit with original files) or post a link of a WORKING guide, and not one from 2009 or older...

you extract not a blp files, but only patch-data for it. read here http://www.mmowned.com/forums/world-...3-13329-a.html

i've read the guide (again) and... well so you mean i have to search for the files in an other archive as wow-update? well i try it but i don't understand why it doesn't work the way i try to do since, as in your guide mentioned, wow-update is the last one in the row (maybe i misunderstood something), so shouldn't it contain the latest data?

at first look at header, if it begin from "PTCH", it means this is a patch-data file, you must search full file in cache. else it is already a full file and you may extract this file.

but you must search it in appropriate cache file.
for sample, if you found needed file in "\\WoW\Data\wow-update-13164.MPQ\base\...", you must search it in "\\WoW\Data\Cache\patch-base-13164.MPQ"
if in "\\WoW\Data\wow-update-13164.MPQ\enGB\...", you must search it in "\\WoW\Data\Cache\enGB\patch-enGB-13164.MPQ"

if cached archive not contain your file, you may launch launcher and wait while it recache all files, or launch wow and provoke it for using this file (for sample you must see this texture in game). then quit from wow and search it in cache again.
