    [QUESTION] Item Patch Troubles

I've saved my custom model as an OBJ and used Glitchys MES to convert the OBJ and BLP file into an M2.

    I've put together the MPQ.

This is what it looks like and it does not work. The item I want it to replace it 'Crochet Hat'. The MPQ removes the 'Crochet Hat' from my character but the new helmet is not there.

I do have a leftover .MTL file from when I made the .OBJ file using 3DS.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Change your language settings to EN USA. Then convert again.

Do notice the BLP must be in the root and not act as a treepath.

For example you attached customhelm.png as texture material in your 3d program, then you convert it ro customhelm.blp and import it in the root. As far as I can see you also changed the .blp filename, which mustn't.

Also before trying it ingame use wowmodel viewer to see if the model works correctly or not.

Well... I'm thinking. On this picture it shows the many different skins. Do they matter?

Also, in-game the real model is gone but the custom model isn't appearing so I am doing SOMEthing right. Not sure what is wrong though.

Like I said before, change the language settings to EN US , the thing is convertion of the model was corrupted because of language settings. And like I said before, you don't use the treepath for the BLP. Custom modeling is a bit different, you don't swap X with Y the whole time, for M2s you change the treepath but not for BLPs. Like I said before, if the attached texture is called customhelm.png then convert it to customhelm.blp , and not to helm_leater_brown thing. And afterwards you place it in the roots and not something like item\objectcomponents etc. The M2 however, like I said before, must be replaced. So if you got customhelm.m2 then you need to rename it to item\objectcomponents\treepath thingy

TL;DR - If your model is still invisible use an other converter then since the reason it becomes invisible is because of the converter. Well to be precise, the mathematics calculation system you used via your language settings screwed up the size so that it is smaller and invisible to the naked eye, so changing it to EN US solves the problem.

I used glitchys MES to convert them. What other converter can you suggest?

Tigurius and old 3ds>m2 converters, though I myself don't use tigurius one because I couldn't pull it off, and dunnow if theres still a 3ds>m2 converter that works for 3.X patches, but glitchy MES should do the job imo, that's the only converter that has worked for me correctly 3.X.

    Which versian of it?

I've used another model that works and that model worked. So the M2 definately is the problem.
I've also sent you a PM.

I fixed those issues and have the model. Only now its not so close to the head and upside-down. Untextured too.

Tried to fix it only now it brings up a crash error =/

    Fixed it.

How do I apply the texture onto it?

    glitchy mes Im using.

PNG > BLP converter is what Im using.

Also, I assume you use 3DS Max , so you need to play with the viewpoint a bit. If its upside down then do it upside down in 3ds max. Also, I assume you attached the texture in material editor, if you didn't that would explain why it's untextured. If it's green textured, then you need to place the BLP correctly.

It is green. I'm not exactly sure where to put the blp file or what I need to name it as.

You need to name it, like I said before, the same as how you attached it into material editor. Here is an big guide example:

You open up 3DS Max. You load your scene. Afterwards you see your model. You click your model. You click M on your keyboard. Now a new window will pop up. Now you can assign materials to the model. You press on diffuse and afterwards on bitmap. Now you can search for the texture. Your texture is called hatthing.png . Use it. After you selected the hatthing.png , you assign the material to the model. Click on assign material. It's somewhere in the menu of material editor. Afterwards you select view mapport to see if the texture is correctly assigned. Afterwards you export the model as an .OBJ file. You convert hatthing.png to hatthing.blp. You import your .OBJ file and your blp in glitchy mes. Then you convert. Then a new M2 shows up and a new SKIN. Then you open up some kind of MPQ editor and import the BLP and SKIN file, WITHOUT treepaths. I repeat. WITH-OUT-TREE-PATHS. So it resides in the root. It stays in the root. It doesn't have also any other name. It stays always the same. ONLY, O-N-L-Y your M2 needs to be renamed.

Really, if you can't still figure it out I don't know anymore. I've already written 3 times already that you don't rename the BLP OR SKIN type in any way, you just, import it in the MPQ, plain and simple, god knows what you have been trying to do the whole time, it looks like I'm answering the same problem over and over again. Once again, for the last time, You Don't RENAME the BLP or the SKIN file, you just import it directly into the MPQ.
