Model edit not working (race swap... kinda)

It's been a while since I last used model edits, and I've never used anything other than texture edits, but I recently had the spontaneous decision to use an edit that gave Nelves the same meshes as Belves: http://www.mmowned.com/forums/world-of-warcraft/model-editing/134794-modelswap-reskin-belf-models-nelf-skins.html

It's a rather old edit. For some reason I can't get it to work. I've put it in the right place and renamed it properly, but it's not working.

First I tried the one labeled NiF. My Nelf females remained the same and Nelf males went... invisible. O.o

I tried NiM Fixed and all races became completely blackened with no hair.

I assume I'm supposed to use MEFix, but the posts in the MEFix thread indicate that MEFix doesn't work with, and is not needed for the latest patch.
