Hi. I've been perusing the forums, and I stumbled upon this topic:
mmowned.com/forums/world-building-area-changes/217173-map-adts-kalidar.html
Please, take a small moment to read through it, it's not very long (8 posts).
I'm very interested in this topic, so I apologize for the thread necro. I'd like to know more about how he extracted the alpha-files of Kalidar, and then worked on them to make them useable in today's WoW. I have downloaded the files, and instance-swapped, they worked perfectly, so that's all cool.
However, I'd like to know how to do this myself.
I'm not looking for a spoonfeeding, but if someone can get me started, what program(s) I should use, etc.
First off: is this a very hard and technical thing to do? (I don't have much experience in model-editting besides instance-swapping and texture changing).
At the moment, I've checked out the Kalidar folder, and found a .wdl and .wdt file, both .mpq archived. So I opened them with Ladik's MPQ editor, and only found a couple of files:
File00000000.xxx (the bigger one)
File00000001.xxx (a few KB)
with which I've no idea what to do. schlumpf mentions correcting differences and filling in stuff.
So, does anyone know where I should go from there?
Thanks in advance!
