[Question/request?] Editing Druid Form(Creature) -> Race

Well, spent the past couple of nights in and out of trying to pick up model editing on my own..I've come across things such as Character -> Creature and Race -> Race ect but not so much info on Druid edits and how it really works.

I was hoping of figuring a way to just edit my ToL (Tree of Life) to a NiM, as a Horde Druid. Been trying to figure out a way to do it with DBC edits, changing the lines and the like but sadly haven't gotten too far. It's been trial and error, no success. Sigh.

Well, should anyone really have any advice to hit me with I'd be so grateful as would my BF >_> He gets so mad when I get consumed by trying to figure these things out. Can't help it, I'm determined!

I'm trying something similar, using Glitchy's awesome model edit software (definitely try that, it's much less frustrating for a beginner like me).

But I am not sure what the Tree of Life mp2 is called. I can find other druid forms, but ToL doesn't seem to follow the same naming convention. If anyone could point me to the ToL file I could probably tackle the OP's edit. (That is, assuming she clarifies what NiM stands for.)

Haha, have been! I had the most success with that, except my ME turned into this sad white model that had shape but like every hairstyle and strange features. would post a screen buuttt gotta leave soon.

Kinda funny seeing that, I remember how annoying it was for me to find that stupid ToL mp2.

Brown is the one we use, and that's pretty much where I get thrown off, trying to DBC edit since there's so many files for that. Glitchys was easier to play with, but even after deleting all the other blp files and narrowing it down to the ones that were 06, it doesn't solve how odd he looks, nor does it actually give him a color. Wish I knew this better rofl!

What are you trying to edit the ToL to? I'm going to be making a ton of mistakes figuring out my own ToL edit, I'd prefer to make them trying something useful to somebody else than something random.

Well that's why I'm stuck, it would probably be easier doing a creature -> creature, but of course I have to do the hardest thing I can find.
Was trying to do ToL - Night Elf Male, not working. Should really show a screen, it looked so epic. So don't feel bad about mistakes rofl

Ubermonkey did an amazing job and it looks soo awesome, I'm happy to be rid of the ugly cow but then when trying to get this for ToL..using Glitchys it at least gives me a model with the correct size but lol yeah easier to show it:

You're already doing better than me. My night elf female still has the bright neon green anime hair you get with tauren swaps.

My moonkin is pure white night elf.

I'll keep poking at it.

Got the same problem just with Gnom, cant figure out how to fix those texture´s if any1 could help us would be nice.

I haven't done any model editing in a loong time so someone feel free to correct me.


But I believe this involves modifying creaturemodelata.dbc (or something like that)

Which I believe, as of last patch, is currently being watched by warden, along with parts of strath, and ramparts, campfire.m2, frost shards, and some other things.



Anyway, if you're still willing to try it.


Open up the dbc and find the 2 ID's you want to swap.

Columns 5,6,7 or so should contain texture files of the model.

Swap the textures of your current model with the textures of the model you want, save, load.

It should work ingame.
