Model Editing After 3.1

This is a noobish question, and I'm not sure if I'm even allowed to post a question like this, but I just want a straight up answer. I used model edits and stuff, and Chawazza's (forgive me if I spelt his name wrong) model edit fix, and it was good. However, after the 3.1 patch I've heard some things like that it's detectable and stuff now, all I want to know is, is this true, or is it still safe to use?
