So I'm planning on making an environment change soon, it'll be my first one. If anyone has any suggestions for a first zone change I'll get to work on it.

Yea every one does ED yoiu should think of something unique thats not been done. Dont copy what every one does ,you can customize blps or just change a place into something no one would think of.

Someone really should make a detailed guide on world editing, I have tried using the guide about editing BLPs but my BLPs never work.
Do, or do not there is no try.
No, we don't need guides on world changing. I honestly find it depressingly disappointing in the reliance on someone else to teach you. You do not need guides.
Guides are for the weak, for those who are unable to think. The more guides there are, the more blizzard nerfs it, because the more people who abuse it. I hate to say it, but if you cannot figure it out, you do not deserve to be able to do it. I apologize, but it is the case.

I find myself agreeing with you on some level Snake. Though the point is its not a reliance, its a request. I AM currently tryng to figure it out on my own. Though, jsut because I cannot grasp one concept does not make me weak, what would make me weak would be if I asked others to do the WORK FOR ME. By your logic people that go to school are weak, and people who learn instruments from others are weak...
Sure, it can cause something to be nerfed, but help is not always a bad thing.

Well since this threads getting attention ill ask my question about model editing in it mabye it'll get answered
Been trying to switch my Durotar up with Moonglade to give it a more grassy feeling. I know Gruk has done this already but i want to do it for myself. Both with and without the model edit fix. ill upload the patch that its in if you guys could check it out for me and make sure i did everything right but afaik i did

I agree that my statement was perhaps a bit situational. Indeed, going to school, learning an instrument, a martial arts etc, to learn is a good thing. And honestly you need teachers for these things. There's very little "figure it out on your own" in the real world... However this is different. This is changing cosmetics for a game world, used for recreation. There's no demand to be taught because it's all highly learnable, so a guide is unnecessary.
Two more points: If you do it on your own, you learn the techniques first hand. This is the best way to learn. You learn the concepts, you learn the way of doing it, and by doing this you get better. Also, doing this teaches you how to think out there in the real world. These skills of thinking can be applied to most things in life, and will come in greatly helpful. The final point is.. There are things on the line here. As more and more guides and techniques become public, the more people will use it and exploit with it. And then blizzard nerfs it.
Blizzard has done it before. They first made it so that the game didn't read the file alone. Then they made it only read files with the correct treepaths. Then it had to be packed into an MPQ with Treepath. Then they went all out at added outright blocked mechanisms to stop us. Admittedly, the first two might have been internal database organization methods, but they were nerfs in the time it took to figure out how to get around it. When blizzard nerds model changing, they nerf the ability to create. It's such a fantastic thing... The power of creation. No longer are you trapped in blizzards world, you can now create your own. It's wonderful... And it's an art. You end up getting rid of an art form, and I find that be not selfish, but absolutely horrible. You can see why, I'm sure.
