    DBC Editing Problems

I've been messing around a bit with dbc editing. Mainly trying to make my bronze drake into a proto drake. Here's what i'm doing.

I'm extracting the CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc using mywarcraftstudio. I open it in Taliis and swap what I want to. I use mywarcraftstudio and pack it back into the MPQ using the same file structure(DBFilesClient\CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc). I put the MPQ in my data folder, start up wowme. Wow will open but instantly close before the login screen comes up.

Does anyone have any idea wth i'm doing wrong?

The problem comes directly from WOWME :
if your .mpq is in the Data folder (as said in readme.txt file), the program crashes instantly for an obscure reason, as you describe.

I found a way do to avoid this problem:
    1. Put your mpq file in your local data folder
    example : World of Warcraft\Data\frFR\mypatch.mpq
    2. And edit your wowme.cfg. Tell it that your mpq is in another folder. So, for my example, it will look like this :

    Code:
    \frFR\mypatch.mpq
I have no longer this problem since I use this method.

    Hope this can help you

I think I found the problem. Wowme will only load MPQ's from the Data folder. But I think the DBC edited MPQ's need to be in your Data\enUS folder. But with wowme no longer having a CFG file you cannot force it to look in the enUS folder.

I could be way offbase here thou. Does anyone else have any ideas.

Do you have this problem only when you modify DBC files ?
Maybe try something less complex such as map editing or so.

It's a stupid suggestion but maybe, you could simulate your World of Warcraft\Data\enUS\ tree structure in your MPQ. You can try to add an enUS folder in the root of your mpq and put all directories in it.

yeah it's just DBC files, If u read my post above I think I found the issue. I'd rather find a work around with wowme then switch mefix. I've used wowme since I stared Model editing, so I feel most secure with it.

I tried that, wow will load up, but it don't reflect the dbc edits.

Maybe you can try to add another folder to simulate another MPQ in your tree structure imitation x)
    \enUS\patch-enUS-5\
    or
\enUS\patch-enUS-5.MPQ\ --> this one is a folder, not an integration of a MPQ file in your MPQ (MPQs in MPQs, if we begin in that way, it will be messy very quick )

NO, its only the specific fix. Just use the http://www.mmowned.com/forums/bots-p...-edit-fix.html one. Just always use this one.
