[AHH!] Armor model editting eek!

I've been trying to find a guide for doing these and I can't seem to find one that helps me in ANY sense at all. If anyone could people link me to a good guide or something, or explain to me how to do it in a sense I can understand/do it easily without having all this hex editting, I HATE hex editting and if that's the only way to do it. Well, I need it explained simply because i've never gotten hex editting Thanks
