    Editing Sound Files

First off if I missed anything super obvious in the guide feel free to flame. 6):
    Guide:
I looked through the guide http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...-pictures.html on changing the music to whatever you would like to for ingame music and a few others not on the site but I am still having trouble with what I want to do.

    What I did:
Basically I want to either completely get rid of the sounds that play after either the Horde or Alliance win for a battleground. I know the names of both files, I have tried the method in the guide but the sounds still play. At first I tried to delete the files but realized that would not work rather fast(copied common.MPQ). So after that i just wrote my own MPQ file and configured it the same way as the common.MPQ file is set-up and put in the sound files I wanted (In this case, a .wav file with no sound in it). But still its playing the normal sounds, not sure what i am doing wrong.

    The thing I'm askin:
So basically all I wanna know is where I went wrong or a better way to replace those ending bg sounds with a silent .wav file or a way to just get rid of them completely.

Could you upload the MPQ? Then I can take a look at it.

Ok I uploaded the file, here you go. I just named it as "a patch" and put it in the data folder.

    Name it to patch-4.MPQ

If you just put the patch in data folder with a random name then it doesnt work.

I have the "Druids of Azeroth" skins labeled as patches 1 through 9 so I just named it patch-a.MPQ. The extra skins for like shaman I made patch-b and patch-c and those seem to work so i figured making it patch-a.MPQ would work but it doesn't seem to want too. I don't believe I named it wrong but maybe its not in a right order or something if it needs to be.

No not really. Patch must be named patch-X.MPQ

with X as number that varies from 3 till 9 (patch-2 already exists and patch-1 can't be used as far as I know)

Otherwise it won't work, trust me.

Try deleting one of those patch-X.MPQ or merge them together with Glitchy MES and then rename the patch with sound files to patch-X.MPQ

The patches I have listed as patch-b & patch-c for the skins pack seem to work fine but I am trying to combine them all into patch-9 right now so will see if it works. The sound file names are exactly the same even if they are case sensitive.

Good way to just remove sounds is through DBC "SoundEntries.dbc"
You can even add new sounds in with it.

I put all the data from the patchs into patch-9 and it seems to work but have yet to finish a bg and to test the sound. Not entirely sure what the DBC editor is or even where the "soundentries.dbc" file is located.

All the files in put into the patch-9.MPQ work except the sound files, the normal seem to play no matter what.

I guess muting the sound at the end of ever bg is possible but why do that when you could just change them to nothing so you don't have too.

Honestly nothing, but for a long time I have wanted to get rid of them, since they are just loud and annoying. I just want to know what I did wrong in the MPQ file if anything, from the guides I read it does not seem all too difficult.

Thanks Noodel, researched it for a while and finally figured out how to edit anything I wanted.

I was considering making a guide for something like this since all of the ones I looked at had bits and pieces or were not specifically about this. What do you guys think?
