    Whos up for a challenge?

Ok, I've made a special challenge for model editors. Instead of making a fireplace.... I want a house to appear >=). Yes, the house found at 46 62 in Elwyn Forest. Not only do I want the house, but the furniture too. Everything in the house but the people... don't know if it's possible, but it's a challenge.. at least i think lol.

Can't be done. Camp fire is an m2, meaning model. Houses are WMOs, meaning map objects. You cannot call one file type instead of the other.

The house can not be spawned at will, but a simple .ADT edit may permanently place the house at the desired coordinate, if you would prefer.

Didn't want to mention that, but yes. That can be done.

Ohh snake it can think about it. I mean theres no way in hell i could do it, but if u extracted the wmo into 3ds max, then converted it to a .m2, you could do it. The only issue is i cant get that convertor to work, at all. I mean it wouldnt be able to work in 2.0, but still.

Think it could be done... Unless it won't register the converted WMO completely, considering they work in 2 different fashions. WMOs, just like M2s, are created in 3DS.

Re: Whos up for a challenge?

Fine, fine. You all want to get technical with me, I'll shoot it right back at you.

There are no easily(or at all public) converts from WMO/m2 to 3ds. Yes, there is an m2 to 3ds. That just creates a static mesh and various submeshes. That does you no good. There are no bones for easily editiable surfaces, there are no texture coordinates, so you have to personally and manually UVW map the thing(which sucks beyond compare), and it has no animations. Which is... Ew for custom creations. So you could convert it, but it's useless, unless you just want a visual model from which to build upon.

Yes there is a WMO to max converter. It's by Taylor Mousse. It's pretty good, slightly better than average, but not fantastic. Doesn't preserve all the aspects of a WMO; m2 placements, objects, spell particle effects etc. But it gets you by.

Now, assume you perfectly imported or created your desired object in 3ds max. You now have to reconvert it to WMO. What are you going to do now? No one on this site(to my knowledge) can do that sort of scripting. You would need a perfect documentation on the WMO format, which WoWDev has to a degree, but it's still imperfect.

Now, lets now assume you converted it to a WMO successfully. What now? How do you define it's collision, how do you define where objects are places? What you can walk though and what you can't? Invisible walls? Lighting? What now?

It can be done yes, but as far as any of you are concerned, it won't be.
