    [question] shaman s3 helm partical

ok so im assuming Helm_Mail_RaidShaman_F_01_TaM, is the S3 helm file for a tauren male.

When when I load this into m2modder then pressing T to see the texture type it comes up as the following:

    blah blah
    Texture:Item\OBJECTCOMPONENTS\HEAD\SMOOTHREFLECT.BLP
    blah blah
    Texture:ITEM\OBJECTCOMPONENTS\HEAD\HELM_PLATE_RAIDWARRIOR_F_01_FLAME.BLP

so I guess what im asking here is why is

    Helm_Mail_RaidShaman_F_01_TaM coming up as HELM_PLATE_RAIDWARRIOR_F_01_FLAME.BLP

What Im trying to do here is change the particle colors, and I wanted to make sure I was using the right file for this. So I didn't screw up the wrong file a few million times b4 I figure out what im doing.

    Thanks in advance

Particles use textures. To save time and effort, they just re-used the particle texture from the warrior helm.

You can just edit the warrior particle's texture's color and it should only affect it on that particular helm, other .m2's that use that particle should stay the same color.

Well if it has a .blp then those aren't particles. It may have particles though. In which case you will have to load the item in m2modder and choose to edit the color of the particles. Its in a form of hex where the first two numbers are the transparency (leave these along) and the last 6 are a hex code.

As for the .blp. Some models may use .blps that are used by another model also. Why make multiple models for the same effect.

so when u press P to see the particals and it gives you the colors and what not, it mentions flags. like:

    0 flags (color sequence)

    1 flags (color sequence)

    2 flags (color sequence)

What are the flags referring too,

The helm has 3 particles: one for each eye and one on the forehead. I took a look at the three particles (0, 1 and 2). 1 and 2 are for the eyes, 0 is the forehead (you can see this by looking at the coordinates).

When you press p you get a list of the particles and another list of submenus, just press c to go to the color changing menu, then change the color of all 3 particles (0, 1 and 2).

Don't worry about the flags, you're supposed to look at the numbers on the far left and flags separately.

very very cool, thanks a-lot bro. )

That all makes sense. I just have to ask this though

when you say u can tell by the coordinates is there a program that lets you see what the coordinates are pointing at? or? how did you know which was which?

You can see that two of the "Pos" numbers are the same in the last two particles, the third is mirrored.
