How do I add animation to a custom model

I made a whale to replace my sea lion. I was wondering if it would be possible to add the swim animation to it. Any help would be great. Also I'm not too experienced with dbc edits, I think I might need to do that for this, but I'm not sure.

"As far as I know" The current 3DS->M2 "supports" animations, but the 3DS format is very, very limited. A very simple animation (such as swim) should be possible if you do it all in 3DS and convert over with it. I posted a fixed version (for TBC era m2's) a few months ago, but its lost in the abyss of these forums somewhere.
